Keeping A Traditional Program-Delivery Method In An "E" World, Kenneth D. Simeral Feb 2001

Keeping A Traditional Program-Delivery Method In An "E" World, Kenneth D. Simeral

Journal of Extension

Advances in communication technology have changed how agents deliver programs and work with clientele. The electronic world makes it very easy for educational information to be delivered quickly and efficiently. These advances must be regarded as program-delivery improvements. However, communication technology has also reduced the amount of face-to-face, personal contact with and among clientele, which used to be a hallmark of Extension work. Can we keep the face-to-face benefits while going forward in an "e" world?

Environmental Science In The New Millennium : A Model To Give Structure And Guidance, James M. Lipuma Jan 2001

An Examination Of Discourse Concerned With Pcb Remediation In The Hudson River, Jennifer M. Coffey Jan 2001

An Examination Of Discourse Concerned With Pcb Remediation In The Hudson River, Jennifer M. Coffey

Theses

Remediation of PCB contamination in the Hudson River is an issue hotly contested within local communities, the media, and between government agencies and corporate entities. In recent years, the EPA has decided to revisit their 1984 no-action decision for the Hudson River and in December 2000, issued a Feasibility Study recommending partial dredging of the 200 miles of the Hudson floor deemed a Superfund site. The EPA's reevaluation of their 1984 decision has spurred an enormous amount of literature from corporate, non-profit volunteer, and government agencies.

The rhetorical theory of social constructionism and the ethical theory of environmental pragmatism are …
