An Evaluation Of Families And Service Providers Participating In Participatory Action Research Related To Self-Determination In Young Children With Disabilities, Kristen L. Kozlowski

Dissertations and Theses

The concept of self-determination or "acting as the primary casual agent in one's life and making choices and decisions regarding one's quality of life free from undue external influence or interference" (Wehmeyer, 1996, p.24) has long been a focus of educating adults with disabilities. Recently, researchers and educators have begun to examine teaching foundational skills of self-determination to young children with disabilities. The Economy Of Property Forms, Michael Heller Oct 2001

The Economy Of Property Forms, Michael Heller

The Gruter Institute Working Papers on Law, Economics, and Evolutionary Biology

This essay explores a puzzle from the world of property theory, that is from the world of mine and yours, the basic social organizational molecules with which we build our sense of justice. The puzzle is this: why is there so little variety in the forms of property people use across the world? We lack a convincing theory for the "economy of property forms," where economy is understood in the sense of parsimony. Three partial answers have been suggested. First, the limited number of forms may keep people from wasting property through over-fragmentation. Second, the limit may economize on communication …

Health Conditions Associated With The Greater Grand Forks 1997 Flood Disaster: Pre- To Post-Flood Seasonal And Trend Analysis With Age And Gender Effects., Julie Waxvik Anderson

Theses and Dissertations

Natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, and earthquakes, are often considered uncontrollable environmental events and have been linked with mild to severe physical and psychological effects. Massive flooding that occurred in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and East Grand Forks, Minnesota (spring 1997), caused evacuation of almost the entire population of both communities.
