Contributions From Mafic Alkaline Magmas To The Bingham Porphyry Cu-Au-Mo Deposit, Utah, U.S.A., Daniel T. Maughan
Theses and Dissertations
The Bingham porphyry Cu-Au-Mo deposit, Utah, may only be world-class because of substantial contributions of sulfur and metals from mafic alkaline magma to an otherwise unremarkable calc-alkaline system. Volcanic mafic alkaline rocks in the district are enriched in Cr, Ni, and Ba as well as ore-related constituents of Cu, Au, platinum group elements (PGE) and S. The bulk of the volcanic section that is comagmatic with ore-related porphyries is dacitic to trachytic in composition, but has inherited the geochemical signature of high Cr, Ni, and Ba from magma mixing with the mafic alkaline rocks. The volcanic section that most closely …

Guanylyl Cyclase C Agonists Regulate Progression Through The Cell Cycle Of Human Colon Carcinoma Cells., Giovanni Mario Pitari, M D Di Guglielmo, J Park, S Schulz, Scott A Waldman
Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics Faculty Papers
The effects of Escherichia coli heat-stable enterotoxin (ST) and uroguanylin were examined on the proliferation of T84 and Caco2 human colon carcinoma cells that express guanylyl cyclase C (GC-C) and SW480 human colon carcinoma cells that do not express this receptor. ST or uroguanylin inhibited proliferation of T84 and Caco2 cells, but not SW480 cells, in a concentration-dependent fashion, assessed by quantifying cell number, cell protein, and [(3)H]thymidine incorporation into DNA. These agonists did not inhibit proliferation by induction of apoptosis, assessed by TUNEL (terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated dNTP-biotin nick end labeling of DNA fragments) assay and DNA laddering, or necrosis, …

Multiwavelength Modelocked Semiconductor Diode Laser, Peter Delfyett, Hong Shi
Multiwavelength Modelocked Semiconductor Diode Laser, Peter Delfyett, Hong Shi
UCF Patents
Single-stripe GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor optical amplifiers which simultaneously generates from four to more than twenty tunable WDM channels. A four channel version transmits approximately 12 picosecond pulses at approximately 2.5 GHz for an aggregate pulse rate of 100 GHz. Wavelength tuning over 18 nm has been demonstrated with channel spacing ranging from approximately 0.8 nm to approximately 2 nm. A second version uses approximately 20 wavelength channels, each transmitting approximately 12 picosecond pulses at a rate of approximately 600 MHz. A spectral correlation across the multiwavelength spectrum which can be for utilizing single stripe laser diodes as multiwavelength sources in WDM-TDM …
Duel Beam Low Coherence Interferometer With Improved Signal To Noise Ratio, Aristide Dogariu
Duel Beam Low Coherence Interferometer With Improved Signal To Noise Ratio, Aristide Dogariu
UCF Patents
A dual beam low coherence interferometer with improved signal to noise ratio. The interferometer directs both a collimated beam about a focused beam to a target. A detector detects the multiscattering from the target with a splitter where a reference arm with matched mirrors allows for measuring both the intensity and magnitude values of the beam to be measured. The intensity and magnitude values indicate the imaging of the target in applications such as OCT(optical coherence tomography) having medical imaging applications, while improving the signal to noise ratios. Other applications include material characterization in ceramics, composites and other granular material. …
