Clarification Of And Comments On Northern Speyeria Hydaspe Subspecies (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae), Norbert G. Kondla

The Taxonomic Report of the International Lepidoptera Survey

The geographic distribution and use of three northern Speyeria hydaspe subspecies names is reviewed. This is necessary due to literature errors about the type locality of subspecies rhodope (Edwards, 1874). The correct placement of the rhodope type locality renders the name S. hydaspe sakuntala (Skinner, 1911) of interior British Columbia as a junior synonym of S. hydaspe rhodope. The name S. hydaspe minor (McDunnough, 1927) is available for the coastal populations by those who recognize these as different from those of the interior.

Artemisia L. (Asteraceae - Anthemideae) is a large and taxonomically complex genus occurring widely throughout the northern hemisphere. Chemical investigations in this genus have mainly been stimulated by the economic and/or medicinal importance of many of its members. This chemical knowledge has also provided useful criteria for resolving systematic uncertainties within the genus. Alaskan Artemisia species are little known chemically despite their historic and contemporary medicinal use. Therefore, an investigation of the chemistry of Alaskan Artemisia arctica was initiated with the dual purpose of searching for structurally novel and/or biologically active compounds and contributing additional criteria for systematic studies of …

Sense Of Humor, Stress, And Burnout In Medical Social Workers, Kerby Plante

Theses and Graduate Projects

This quantitative study used survey research methodology to explore the relationship befween sense of humor, stress, and burnout in medical social workers. The hypothesis of this study is that a sense of humor will decrease stress, which in turn will descrease burnout for social workers. This study surveyed 75 medical social workers in the State of Minnesota on their use of humor and their current stress and burnout level. The study used the Sense of Humor Rating Scale, the Job Stress Survey, and the Maslach Burnout Inventory as the measures to quantify the variables. The study found that stress is …

This thesis, Design History and the Human Experience, is a course which offers a new approach to teaching design history by presenting the material through a historical/popular culture lens. The research and content organizing methodology will show how design is part of a larger context reflecting and creating the culture we live in. When design history includes an emphasis on the historical and cultural contexts, the designer's work takes on deeper meaning and relevance. In this article, the author discusses about how can an online game form a community as essential as real life and how the community of online gaming has developed through their own platform. The author refers to artist/curator Anne-Marie Schleiner, as he describes social developments in gaming. Sometimes, the social bonds developed in these groups extend beyond the game into friendship.
