Mandatory Dispute Resolution: New York's Recall On Welfare Recipients' Due Process Rights, Rachael Dehner

Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution

This Note will discuss the unconstitutionality of the MDR initiative. Part II will describe the implementation of MDR procedures currently in place. Part III will discuss the necessity of a protected interest in a due process analysis, how Goldberg defined the protected interest and how it has changed since the implementation of PRWORA. Part IV will explore due process and its relation to welfare benefits, focusing on Goldberg v. Kelly. It will also describe the fair hearing process and procedures. Part V will apply the due process analysis developed in Goldberg and Mathews to the MDR interview. Finally, Part VI …

Attempts To Solve The Udrp’S Trademark Holder Bias: A Problem That Remains Unsolved Despite The Introduction Of New Top Level Domain Names, Pamela Segal Jan 2001

Attempts To Solve The Udrp’S Trademark Holder Bias: A Problem That Remains Unsolved Despite The Introduction Of New Top Level Domain Names, Pamela Segal

Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution

Section I of this note will trace the history of the Internet as well as the development of ICANN and the UDRP. Section II will provide an in depth discussion of ICANN’s process in selecting the new top level domain names. Section III will furnish a general overview of ICANN’s Uniform Dispute Resolution Policy and its implications. Section IV will specifically examine the effects of the new TLD application process in light of the UDRP’s trademark holder bias. Finally, in Section V it is suggested that it is necessary to revise the UDRP through implementing one of the proposed solutions. …

History, Current Status, And Collaborative Researchprojects For Bemisia Tabaci, M. R. V. Oliveira, T. J. Henneberry, P. Anderson Jan 2001

History, Current Status, And Collaborative Researchprojects For Bemisia Tabaci, M. R. V. Oliveira, T. J. Henneberry, P. Anderson

United States Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Research Service / University of Nebraska-Lincoln: Faculty Publications

Bemisia tabaci was described over 100 years ago and has since become one of the most important pests worldwide in subtropical and tropical agriculture as well as in greenhouse production systems. It adapts easily to new host plants and geographical regions and has now been reported from all global continents except Antarctica. In the last decade, international transport of plant material and people have contributed to geographical spread. B. tabaci has been recorded from more than 600 plant species and there may be many additional hosts not yet formally documented. Biotypes have been identified in different areas of the world …

A Penalty Method For Approximations Of The Stationary Power-Law Stokes Problem, Lew Lefton, Dongming Wei Jan 2001

A Penalty Method For Approximations Of The Stationary Power-Law Stokes Problem, Lew Lefton, Dongming Wei

Mathematics Faculty Publications

We study approximations of the steady state Stokes problem governed by the power-law model for viscous incompressible non-Newtonian flow using the penalty formulation. We establish convergence and find error estimates

Decay Estimates Of Heat Transfer To Melton Polymer Flow In Pipes With Viscous Dissipation, Dongming Wei, Zhenbu Zhang Jan 2001

Decay Estimates Of Heat Transfer To Melton Polymer Flow In Pipes With Viscous Dissipation, Dongming Wei, Zhenbu Zhang

Mathematics Faculty Publications

In this work, we compare a parabolic equation with an elliptic equation both of which are used in modeling temperature profile of a power-law polymer flow in a semi-infinite straight pipe with circular cross section. We show that both models are well-posed and we derive exponential rates of convergence of the two solutions to the same steady state solution away from the entrance. We also show estimates for difference between the two solutions in terms of physical data.
