Study Of Tantalum Nitride Diffusion Barrier Films For Coppper Interconnect Technology, Deepa Gazula
Study Of Tantalum Nitride Diffusion Barrier Films For Coppper Interconnect Technology, Deepa Gazula
Theses
As technology progressed to ultra - large scale integration leading to smaller and smaller devices, there are continuous challenges in the fields of materials, processes and circuit designs. Copper is the interconnect material of choice because of its low electrical resistivity and high electromigration resistance. However, copper is quite mobile in silicon at elevated temperatures. Therefore, to prevent the diffusion of copper into silicon, a diffusion barrier layer that has fewer grain boundaries, good adhesion to Si and Si02, high thermal and electrical stability with respect to Cu is necessary. Tantalum nitride compounds have been investigated as potential barrier materials. …

Ice Age Floods In The Spokane And Cheney Area, Washington, Eugene P. Kiver, Dale F. Stradling
Cheney-Palouse Chapter Records
This booklet provides directions for a driving tour featuring evidence for Ice Age floods in Spokane County. The route extends from Interstate 90 along the north to Williams Lake Road to the south.
The booklet was created for the seventh field trip sponsored by the Cheney-Palouse Chapter of the Ice Age Flood Institute.

Long-Slit Observations Of Extended C Ii Λ1335 Emission Around V854 Centauri And Ry Sagittarii, G. C. Clayton, T. R. Ayres
Faculty Publications
We have obtained long-slit far-ultraviolet (1150-1730 Å) spectra of the R Coronae Borealis (RCB) stars V854 Cen and RY Sgr near maximum light and pulsational phase zero with the Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph on board the Hubble Space Telescope. The far-UV spectrum of each star shows a photospheric continuum rising steeply toward longer wavelengths and a prominent emission feature at C II λ1335. RY Sgr displays a second, but fainter, emission attributed to Cl I λ1351 (which is radiatively fluoresced by C II λ1335), but Cl I is weak or absent in V854 Cen. Most surprisingly, the C II emission …

On The Green Vol. 32 No. 2 October 19, 2001, Gallaudet University
2001-2010
On the Green is an internal publication of Gallaudet College, which later became Gallaudet University. It notified employees of updates around the campus and in the broader community, including new construction and the establishment of new academic programs. Running until 2010, it was supplanted by various forms of online mass communications across multiple audiences.

Statistical Evaluation Of Image Quality Measures, Ismail Avcibas, Bulent Sankur, Khalid Sayood
Statistical Evaluation Of Image Quality Measures, Ismail Avcibas, Bulent Sankur, Khalid Sayood
Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering: Faculty Publications
In this work we comprehensively categorize image quality measures, extend measures defined for gray scale images to their multispectral case, and propose novel image quality measures. They are categorized into pixel difference-based, correlation-based, edge-based, spectral-based, context-based and human visual system (HVS)-based measures. Furthermore we compare these measures statistically for still image compression applications. The statistical behavior of the measures and their sensitivity to coding artifacts are investigated via analysis of variance techniques. Their similarities or differences are illustrated by plotting their Kohonen maps. Measures that give consistent scores across an image class and that are sensitive to coding artifacts are …

Transitions In Histone Acetylation Reveal Boundaries Of Three Separately Regulated Neighboring Loci, Michael D. Litt, Melanie A. Simpson, Felix Recillas-Targa, Marie-Noelle Prioleau, Gary Felsenfeld
Department of Biochemistry: Faculty Publications
We have studied developmentally regulated patterns of histone acetylation at high resolution across ~54 kb of DNA containing three independently regulated but neighboring genetic loci. These include a folate receptor gene, a 16 kb condensed chromatin region, the chicken β-globin domain and an adjacent olfactory receptor gene. Within these regions the relative levels of acetylation appear to fall into three classes. The condensed chromatin region maintains the lowest acetylation at every developmental stage. Genes that are inactive show similarly low levels, but activation results in a dramatic increase in acetylation. The highest levels of acetylation are seen at regulatory sites …
