Diabetic Osteopathy: Who Is At Risk?, Serap Demi̇r, Ayşi̇n Öge, Selma Karaahmetoğlu, Osman Müftüoğlu, Seni̇ha Naldöken
Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences
This study was designed to determine the prevalence of osteopathy in diabetic patients, who are at risk of developing osteopathy, and clarify the relationship between osteopathy and other complications of diabetes mellitus. Thirty-four type I and 66 type II diabetic patients admitted to the endocrinology clinic between 1996 and 1997 and 30 nondiabetic subjects as a control group were studied. Bone scintigraphy (Tc 99m methylene diphosphonate) was used for the diagnosis of osteopathy. The body mass index (BMI) of each patient was calculated. Polyneuropathy was assessed by electromyography and the patients, for each of whom BMI was calculated, were asked …

Study Of Slip Systems In Epidote Single Crystal, Salah-Ud Din, Munnawar Ahmad, Shahzad Chishti
Turkish Journal of Physics
Measurements of microhardness anisotropy by Knoop diamond indentations on the prismatic (100) planes of epidote crystals, point group 2/m and space group P21/m, show that microhardness is determined by crystallographic slip on the (100) systems. Microhardness anisotropy is explained in terms of the effective resolved shear stress distribution in these slip systems.

The Effect Of Phonon Drag Of Charge Carriers In In_{1 - X} Ga_{X} Sb, Sadiyar Ahmedoglu Zeynalov
Turkish Journal of Physics
The temperature dependencies of the thermal power a_{0} and thermal conductivity \kappa in two samples of In_{1 - x} Ga_{x}Sb (x=0.65 and 0.45) doped by {Te\sim } 0.001 at\%, with electron concentration n = 5.9 \cdot 10^{16} and 1.3 \cdot 10^{17} cm^{ - 3} (at 100K), have been investigated. It is shown that in In_{0.35}Ga_{0.65}Sb a_{0} increases with decreasing T below 50K. At 14K a_{0} passes through maximum and it falls sharply with decreasing T. It is shown that the maximum value of a_{0} is in agreement with the maximum value of \kappa . In In_{0.55}Ga_{0.45}Sb, starting from T = …

Mcnally's Men: The Homosocial Gaze In Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Gary L. Green
Mcnally's Men: The Homosocial Gaze In Lips Together, Teeth Apart, Gary L. Green
Graduate Research Papers
I will examine McNally's 1991 play "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" and explore his theatrical representations of the male body onstage, primarily from the point of view of the heterosexual male characters, John and Sam, and their homosocial relationship with each other, and how they relate to the invisible presence of the gay men around them. While "Love! Valour! Compassion!" displays frontal nudity, "Lips Together, Teeth Apart" uses what I will call "narrative nudity," verbally conjuring up the physicality of the male body through images designed by McNally's vivid and colorful language and dialogue. This paper will be in two parts: …

Overall, the data was quite consistent with similar studies that have been done. This study found that females read more than males and usually read because they want to while males read because they have to. Both genders prefer to read fiction over nonfiction. A small …
The Problem Of A Viscoelastic Cylinder Rolling On A Rigid Half-Space, John Murrough Golden, G.A.C. Graham
The Problem Of A Viscoelastic Cylinder Rolling On A Rigid Half-Space, John Murrough Golden, G.A.C. Graham
Articles
The problem of a viscoelastic cylinder rolling on a rigid base, propelled by a line force acting at its centre, is solved in the noninertial approximation. The method used is based on a decomposition of hereditary integrals developed by the authors in previous work, and on the viscoelastic Kolosov-Muskhelishvili equations which are used to generate a Hilbert problem. In this formulation, the problem reduces to a nonsingular integral equation in space and time, which simplifies under steady-state conditions and for exponential decay materials, to algebraic form. There are also two subsidiary conditions.
In the case of a standard linear model, …
A "New" Theory Of Management, Andrew Sikula Sr., Kurt Olmosk, Chong W. Kim, Stephen Cupps
A "New" Theory Of Management, Andrew Sikula Sr., Kurt Olmosk, Chong W. Kim, Stephen Cupps
Management Faculty Research
This article presents a "new" theory of management for the new millennium: "new" not because singularly the ideas are recent, but because the combination of these older ideas collectively is novel. To some extent, this article represents the reestablishment of previously existing employment ethics that for various and sundry reasons lapsed into disuse in the past several decades. This article discusses employee relations ethics (ERE) in terms of an ERE credo and a set of assumptions. The modern millennium mission states that all organizations (public and private) should primarily be employee centered, not owner or administrator controlled, customer or client …

Transmissions Of Music On The Internet, Daniel J. Gervais
Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law
This Article examines the status of copyright laws in several countries as they pertain to transmissions of music on the Internet. Because the exact legal ramifications of music transmissions over the Internet are currently unclear, the Author compares copyright laws of six major markets and examines the potential application of the copyright laws and other rights that may apply. The Article also discusses rules concerning which transborder transmissions are likely to be covered by a country's national laws, as well as specific rules applying to the liability of intermediaries. Next, the Article summarizes the comparative findings and discusses the relevant …

Expression And Induction Of Three Family 4 Cytochrome P450 (Cyp4)* Genes Identified From Insecticide-Resistant And Susceptible Western Corn Rootworms, Diabrotica Virgifera Virgifera, M. E. Scharf, S. Parimi, Lance J. Meinke, L. D. Chandler, Blair D. Siegfried
Department of Entomology: Faculty Publications
We have previously determined that cytochrome P450-based oxidation is involved in resistance to the insecticides methyl parathion and carbaryl in geographically distinct Nebraska western corn rootworm populations. Three new family 4 cytochrome P450 (CYP4) gene fragments (CYP4AJ1, CYP4G18 and CYP4AK1) were cloned and sequenced from insecticide-resistant and -susceptible western corn rootworms. Insecticide bioassays indicated the resistant population employed in this study was significantly resistant to the insecticides methyl parathion and carbaryl. CYP4AJ1 and CYP4G18 were cloned from both genomic PCR and RT-PCR products, although only CYP4AJ1 contains an intronic region. Alignments of inferred amino acid sequences with other homologous insect …

Decapitation Impacting Effect Of Topically Applied Chlorpyrifos On Acetylcholinesterase And General Esterases In Susceptible And Resistant German Cockroaches (Dictyoptera: Blattellidae), No-Joong Park, Shripat T. Kamble
Department of Entomology: Faculty Publications
The effect of topically applied chlorpyrifos on acetylcholinesterase and other esterases in heads and decapitated bodies of CSMA and Crawford German cockroaches was examined with spectrophotometric enzyme assay and native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The toxicity of chlorpyrifos was greatly reduced in decapitated CSMA male cockroaches with LD50 value 17.1-fold higher than that of normal CSMA cockroaches. Acetylcholinesterase activity from heads was significantly higher in the Crawford compared with the CSMA strain and did not change until 24 h after chlorpyrifos in vivo treatment in both strains. The p-nitrophenyl butyrate (NPB) esterase activities from both heads and decapitated bodies of …
