In just one aphorism in The Gay Science, Nietzsche arrays “The Problem of the Artist” in a complex, highly reticulated constellation. Addressing every member of the excluded grouping of disenfranchised “others,” Nietzsche turns to the destitution of a god of love keyed to the self- or inward-turning absorption of the human heart. His ultimate and irrecusably tragic project to restore the innocence of becoming requires the affirmation of the problem of suffering as the task of learning how to love. During the past decade, there has been a growing emphasis on, and demand for, outcome information in medicine. A dedicated effort to utilize standardized outcome measures would have multiple benefits for the physical therapy profession and the patients who seek physical therapy treatment. In order for the physical therapy profession to make a dedicated effort to utilize standardized outcome measures, physical therapy students need to learn the rationale, administration, and interpretation of a core group of standardized tests that they can apply to meet a broad range of clinical needs. JSU Yearbooks

The JSU Yearbook Collection spans the years from 1926 to the present. The publication began in 1926 as the Teacola (some volumes spelled "Teacoala") and continued under this title through 1933. The yearbook appears to have ceased printing after that year; the student newspaper took the name Teacola (later changed to the Collegian and finally the Chanticleer) and began publication in 1934. The yearbook started up again in 1947 under the name Mimosa. The Library holds all volume years that were printed: 1926-1933, 1947-1950, 1952-present.

Juvenile rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss [Walbaum]) on 1% daily ration were exposed to 0 (control) or 2 μg of cadmium as Cd(NO₃)₂·4H₂O per liter added to four different calcium (Ca) concentrations: 260 (background), 470 (low), 770 (medium), or 1200 (high) μM of Ca added as Cd(NO₃)₂·4H₂O in synthetic soft water for 30 d. Mortality was highest (;80%) in the background 1 Cd treatment. Approximately 40% mortality was observed in the low 1 Cd exposure; mortality was 10% or less for all other treatments. Production costs have been analyzed in several studies using such normative approaches as budgeting and mathematical programming, and positive approaches as estimation of production, cost, or profit functions. This study used budgeting methods to analyze the costs and benefits of adopting integrated crop management (ICM) or organic methods versus conventional agriculture for tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.), sweet corn (Zea mays L. var. saccharada), and pumpkins (Cucurbita pepo L.). Data were collected using field studies conducted at the Rutgers University Snyder Research and Extension Farm, Pittstown, N.J. Time and motion study techniques were used to record machinery use and labor quantities. …

In 1990, Francisco Portes brought his Teatro Pequeño to the Chamizal in El Paso and gave the audience his usual high quality performance of Moreto' s El Iindo don Diego. Those who attended the performance or have seen it on videotape know that Portes' s portrayal of Diego was nothing less than magisterial. He minces, he scolds, he blusters, he fusses, completely obsessed with his appearance and his affect on others. Occasionally, however, someone comes along who is just "ordinary" compared with academic overachievers but whose accomplishments far exceed reasonable expectations. Eugene D. Forecasting The United States Gross Domestic Product With A Neural Network, Milam Aiken

Journal of International Information Management

Forecasting the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the United States is one of many estimates to predict the economic health of the country. Current forecasting techniques use consensus estimates of experts, econometric models, or other statistical methods. Relatively little research has been devoted to how artificial neural networks may improve these forecasts, however. This paper describes how a neural network using leading economic indicator data predicted annual GDP percentage changes one year into thefiiture more accurately than competing techniques over a ten-year period.
