The Leap Of Faith Exploring Social Workers' Role In Therapeutic Foster Care And The Impact Of Implementing The Strengths Perspective, Joshua M. Kent

Theses and Graduate Projects

The strengths perspective has received significant attention in recent years in both academic and practice settings. Examining its implementation will provide important information about how it can function as a practice model, and therefore facilitate the development of this emergent model. The present study focuses on the implementation of a pilot project designed to incorporate the strengths perspective in therapeutic foster care. The study examines how the strengths perspective affects social workers' roles and responsibilities in therapeutic foster care, and what can be learned about the strengths perspective by examining its implementation in an agency setting. The findings show that …

Linking Childhood Sexual Abuse And Abusive Parenting: The Mediating Role Of Maternal Anger, David Dilillo, George C. Tremblay, Lizette Peterson

Method: Utilized a community sample of low SES participants that included 138 mothers classified as having experienced CSA, and a comparison group of 152 non-sexually abused mothers. Parenting variables examined included the mothers' physical abuse potential, nurturance toward their children, unrealistic developmental expectations of children, as well as frequencies of spanking and general punishment. Towards Real Assistance To Landmine Victims: The Position Of Handicap International, Hi

Global CWD Repository

By banning antipersonnel landmines, States committed themselves to ending the production, use, stockpiling and proliferation of this weapon. They also committed themselves to providing assistance to those who have been victims or who still suffer from the effects of landmines. Despite the efforts first made and the declarations of intention, much remains to be done in order that the States can honour their obligations as far as assistance is concerned.
