Since start of the Asian Economy crisis in 1997, most industries in Malaysia have been experiencing a difficult time. Tourism industry had to face several challenges such as currency fluctuations, negative media reports, stringent government policies, reduced market demands and global competition. The negative effects on the industry were compounded by the national economic slowdown, i.e., GDP contraction of 6.7 per cent in 1998. Tourist arrivals were also descended to a low of 5.5 million, compared to 6.2 million in 1997 (MATTA Annual Report 1998). Investigations On The Conductivity Of Organotin-Doped Polyethyleneoxide Polymer System, Lekshmi Sarojiniamma

Poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) has been doped with selected organotin compounds. The organotin dopants used were triphenyltin thiocyanate (Ph3SnSCN) and tetramethylammonium dichlorotriphenylstannate [Ph3SnClr[Me4N)•. Tin incorporation in the polymers was established by several physical techniques. The infrared spectroscopic analysis of the Pb3SnSCN - doped electrolyte film showed bands at 2080-2050 cm.·' which are also given by pure Ph3SnSCN. Different concentrations of organotin doped electrolytes were prepared and conductivity studies on these were perfonned using impedance spectroscopy. From the measurements it was found that the best conductivity of 7.6xJ0.g Siem was obtained for the composition with PEO :dopant ratio of90:10 at room temperature. …

The unsaponifiablc matters were separated from crude palm oil, crude palm kernel oil, and crude palm fibre oil. The sterol fractions were isolated by preparative thin layer chromatography and were then analysed by gas chromatography and combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Qualitative separations of sterols are illustrated. Tables are presented showing the sterol composition determined in the oi ls, values obtained for individual contents are in broad agreement with other published results There were no major differences between crude palm oil, crude palm kernel oil and crude palm fibre oil with respect to their sterols oomposition. In almost all pulsed gas lasers, transverse electrical discharge is employed in the excitation of the atoms or molecules. These lasers normally employ discharge across a pair of common electrodes to provide large volume and uniform glow discharge. The scaling of output power in such lasers is obtained by increasing the volume of the discharge and also the pressure of the discharge gas. For this reason. the energy coupled into the discharge channel is kept low enough to avoid arcing. A study of abundance and biomass of the macrofauna in the mangroves in Sementa (Selangor) and Kuala Sepetang (Perak) was carried out monthly from September 1993 to December 1994 and from January 1994 to December 1994 . Two sites, a forested and a cleared area (deforested) were selected in each location for the study. This study examines the relationship between ownership structure and corporation performance on 100 Malaysian public-listed companies from 1993 to 1997. We first investigate the effect of ownership concentration on corporate performance, as measured by return on equity, market to book value ratio and return on assets. Further, we extend our analysis by examining the relation between insider ownership and the three accounting ratios. The results showed no significant relationship between ownership concentration or insider ownership and corporate performance for the selected corporations in 1993 - 1997. From the first experiment, it was found 1ha1 the primary root elongation of Z. elegans was optimum on the fifth day with a value of 40.82 ± 15.39 mm Thus, the root segment with an elongation in the range of25.43 to 56.21 mm has been adopted as the standard length for the m VI VO and m vt/fo cytological studies. This study seeks to investigate the subject-verb agreement errors in the interlanguage of ESL learners of a secondary school in Kuala Lumpur. Using a self-designed cloze test. a total of 2,454 errors (61.4%) was elicited and categorised into five main categories of singular/plural subject-verb agreement. From the errors and percentage of errors obtained, the most common error was identified and the cause of errors explained. A five-year period was used ranging from 1995 to 1999. and involved a total of 106 companies that are listed in the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). In attempting to increase knowledge regarding shareholder value issues in Malaysia, a better understanding about the various financial variables that affect shareholder value of companies in Malaysia is expected. The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitude of Malaysian secondary school students toward physical activity, age 16, in Senior Methodist Girls ' School, Kuala Lumpur. The dependent variable of this study is attitude in terms of the six perceived sub-domains of physical activity.
