Typophoto: The Visual Dimensionality, Kitae Kim
Typophoto: The Visual Dimensionality, Kitae Kim
Theses
This thesis will first document how both typography and photography have merged into a pure form of communication: typophoto. Simultaneously, the study will refine the visual parameters for understanding the concept of typophoto through an examination of the works of a number of designers, design movements and visual theories. The final goal of this thesis study will be to explore a new interpretation of typophoto and to extend its use in the new digital era. In 1925, the designer, painter, photographer and film maker Laszl6 Moholy-Nagy first mentioned the concept or theory of typophoto in Malerei Photographic Film. Typophoto was …

A Study Of Perceived Barriers Of Minnesota Family Investment Program Participants In Moving From Welfare To Work: An Analysis Of Three Perspectives, Patrick J. Pischke
Theses and Graduate Projects
The past decade of welfare reform emphasized moving welfare recipients from public assistance towards economic self-sufficiency through employment. This exploratory quantitative study compared perceived barriers, welfare recipients face when seeking employment through the perspectives of the welfare participants (n=265), county financial supervisors (n=74), and employment service supervisors (n=56). Alcoholic Knowledge: An Interpretive Study, Daniel (Dance) Grant Taylor
Dissertations and Theses
This thesis is an example of Norman K. Denzin's postpositive research model of interpretive interactionism. This research model is meant for examining the micro-level social interactions that occur when the personal troubles of individuals interface with the public policies and institutions that have been created to respond to those particular kinds of troubles.
The original intent of this thesis was to locate the meaning of abstinence (from alcohol) held by a set of purposefully selected alcohol treatment providers in the Portland metropolitan area. Construction And Testing Of A Marital/Couple Therapy Satisfaction Measure, Jesse Bingham
Open Access Theses
Therapy is inundated with self-report instruments/measures for clients (Corcoran & Fischer, 1987)(Touliatos, Perlmutter, & Straus, 1989); most of them focused for individual therapy. Many of these instruments are used for assessment purposes, while some others are related to outcome (Fredman & Sherman, 1987) (Corcoran & Fischer, 1987). One neglected area is that of instruments devised to measure satisfaction with specific content areas oftherapy. Another neglected area is an instrument designed specifically for marital/couple therapy. This research devised and tested a client self-report satisfaction measure specifically for couples in therapy. The items of the Marital Therapy Satisfaction Measure (MTSM) were derived …
