Interactions Of Igf-Ii And Cathepsin D In Mcf-7 Breast Cancer Cells, Jesika S. Faridi
Interactions Of Igf-Ii And Cathepsin D In Mcf-7 Breast Cancer Cells, Jesika S. Faridi
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
A primary role of the IGF-II/M6P receptor is to target lysosomal enzymes from the golgi to the lysosomes. This receptor has distinct binding sites for IGF-II and M6P, however, reciprocal interactions between these ligands have been observed (Kiess et al. 1989, 1990). Since IGF-II modulates the routing of cathepsin D in MCF-7 cells by blocking the intracellular binding of cathepsin D to the IGF-II/M6P receptor (De León et al. 1996), we hypothesized that expressing a mutant form of IGF-II that does not bind the IGF-II/M6P receptor will not interfere with lysosomal enzyme trafficking.
In our present study, we report the …

Bulletin 4435 - Exotic Diseases - Pigs, Agriculture Western Australia
Bulletins 4000 -
An exotic disease is a disease that is not present in Australia.
If an exotic disease did occur in Australia it would cause production losses, stock deaths and stop exports of primary production. When export markets are lost they can only be re-established once it is proven the disease is eradicated

Community Support For Natural Resource Management. Future Frameworks: Future Needs, Fionnuala Frost, Wendy Dymond, Soil And Land Conservation Council Of Western Australia
Natural resources published reports
A report prepared for the Soil and Land Conservation Council of Western Australia.
Emerging from the Decade of Landcare is growing recognition that regional and local community involvement is integral to the success of any natural resource management (NRM) outcome. It is integral for a number of reasons:
1. Community support provides the capacity to develop plans and strategies at local, regional scale which are owned by the community who review (technical recommendations, advice and information and adapt them to suit local need;
2. Community knowledge provides an important balance to research knowledge and State and regional level strategies and …

Tid1/Rdh54 Promotes Colocalization Of Rad51 And Dmc1 During Meiotic Recombination, Stephen L. Gasior
Tid1/Rdh54 Promotes Colocalization Of Rad51 And Dmc1 During Meiotic Recombination, Stephen L. Gasior
Biological Sciences Faculty Publications
Two RecA homologs, Rad51 and Dmc1, assemble as cytologically visible complexes (foci) at the same sites on meiotic chromosomes. Time course analysis confirms that co-foci appear and disappear as the single predominant form. A large fraction of co-foci are eliminated in a red1 mutant, which is expected as a characteristic of the interhomolog-specific recombination pathway. Previous studies suggested that normal Dmc1 loading depends on Rad51. We show here that a mutation in TID1/RDH54, encoding a RAD54 homolog, reduces Rad51-Dmc1 colocalization relative to WT. A rad54 mutation, in contrast, has relatively little effect on RecA homolog foci except when strains also …

An Epidemiological Investigation Of Foot And Mouth Disease In A Dairy Farm In Uthaithani Province, Usuma Kukietnan, Suvut Chalajon
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
An epidemiological investigation of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Sawang Arom Dairy Co-operatives farm, between September-December 1998, found that 59 dairy farms holding 720 cattle, reported outbreak of the disease. Clinical examination revealed clinical signs in 65.55% of farms. Abortion (2.08%), stillbirth (0.83%) and mortality (0.83%) were found among the sick animals. The outbreaks were evident after introducing animals into farms where pregnant cows and calves were not vaccinated. Control of disease was achieved after 9 weeks following vaccination with trivalent- FMD vaccine (type O, A, Asia 1) which was given to all ≥ 3 mo. old calves and …

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Protein profiles of crude extracts from adult male and female Haemonchus placei, Mecistocirrus digitatus and Cooperia spp. were studied. The parasites were collected from the abomasum and duodenum of cattle at Pathumthani and Nonthaburi’s abattoirs. SDS-PAGE analysis of the crude extracts revealed, protein bands of various intensities ranging from 13- 24 bands with a molecular mass of between 19-130 kDa. The protein band patterns of each parasite at a molecular weight of between 48.2-111 kDa were similar whereas other protein bands at a molecular mass below 48.2 kDa were different. The number of distinct bands shown by the crude extract …

The Antimicrobial Resistance Of Salmonellae Isolated From Animals, Indhira Kramomtong, Channarong Rodkhum, Waree Niyomthum
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
A total of 39 salmonella isolates were obtained from organ samples taken from duck, chicken and pig carcasses on 34 farms. They were tested for resistance to 11 antimicrobial drugs. 69.2% of isolates were resistant to at least one drug. Most resistances was shown to tetracycline and sulfamethoxazole while most isolates were susceptible to norfloxacin, enrofloxacin, flumiquine and furazolidone. Ampicillin and cephapirin were effective on the salmonella isolates from ducks and chicken, whereas kanamycin was effective on the isolates from chicken and pigs. Trimethoprim was the drug of choice on the isolates from ducks. Forty eight percent of the isolates …

Global Climate Change Kyoto Protocol Implementation: Legal Frameworks For Implementing Clean Energy Solutions, Richard L. Ottinger, Mindy Jayne
Global Climate Change Kyoto Protocol Implementation: Legal Frameworks For Implementing Clean Energy Solutions, Richard L. Ottinger, Mindy Jayne
Pace Environmental Law Review
An appropriate legal framework is essential to accomplishment of clean energy solutions. This paper discusses legislative and regulatory measures that have contributed to successes in achieving clean energy improvements and concomitant reductions in releases of carbon dioxide contributing to global warming. Examples of success stories are given in both developed and developing countries, together with the legal framework for their introduction. It is concludes that clean energy resources can be introduced and dirty resources discouraged by any country affordably and that no country can afford to fail to do so.
