Winter Use Plans Final Environmental Impact Statement Volume Iii, Part I, For The Yellowstone And Grand Teton National Parks And John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Memorial Parkway, United States, Department Of The Interior, National Forest Service

Final Environmental Impact Statements (WY)

Volume III includes public comments and corresponding NPS responses and is separated into three parts. Part I includes representative government, cooperator, organization, and individual comments and responses. Part II includes form letter comments and responses. The NPS responded directly to all comments in the letters found in Parts I and II. Part III is a summary of comments and responses by subject category. Winter Use Plans Final Environmental Impact Statement Volume I For The Yellowstone And Grand Teton National Parks And John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Memorial Parkway, United States, Department Of The Interior, National Park Service

Final Environmental Impact Statements (WY)

In 1990, a Winter Use Plan was completed for Yellowstone National Park (YNP), Grand Teton National Park (GTNP), and the John D. Rockefeller, Jr., Memorial Parkway (the Parkway). In 1994 the National Park Service (NPS) and U.S. Forest Service began work on a coordinated interagency report on Winter Visitor Use Management. This effort was in reaction to an earlier than expected increase in winter use. The 1990 Winter Use Plan projected 143,000 visitors for the year 2000. In 1992-93 winter use in YNP and GTNP exceeded this estimate.

Lymphocyte Profiles In Blood And Tumors Of Arkansas Rous Sarcoma Regressor And Progressor Chickens, Brant Ward Jan 2000

Lymphocyte Profiles In Blood And Tumors Of Arkansas Rous Sarcoma Regressor And Progressor Chickens, Brant Ward

Inquiry: The University of Arkansas Undergraduate Research Journal

The Arkansas Rous Sarcoma Regressor (AR) and Progressor (AP) lines of chickens represent an excellent model to study immune responses to tumors. Both lines of chickens initially develop tumors when injected with Rous sarcoma viros (RSV) or with DNA coding for the RSV oncogene v-src (v-src DNA). AR chickens will eventually regress the tumors whereas AP chickens will allow the tumors to progress to a terminal stage. By using both v-src DNA and RSV for tumor induction, we were able to compare the immune response to tumor antigens alone and tumor antigens in combination with viral components, respectively. To study …

Rethinking The Progressive Estate And Gift Tax, Barbara Redman Jan 2000

Rethinking The Progressive Estate And Gift Tax, Barbara Redman

Akron Tax Journal

This article will not review the philosophical arguments about the legitimacy of unearned wealth versus the right of a person to give as she pleases with her own accumulation. Rather, it will focus on a view of the tax not yet explored to any great extent in legal and political circles, but supported by recent economic research, and to argue, if not against the tax itself, at least against the progressive nature of the tax.

No Women At The Center: The Use Of The Canadian Sentencing Circle In Domestic Violence Cases, Rashmi Goel Jan 2000

No Women At The Center: The Use Of The Canadian Sentencing Circle In Domestic Violence Cases, Rashmi Goel

Sturm College of Law: Faculty Scholarship

For Canadian Aboriginal women, domestic violence is pervasive. A report by the Ontario Native Women’s Association indicates that eighty percent of Aboriginal women surveyed had personally experienced family violence. In this context, Rashmi Goel looks at the use of sentencing circles to respond to wrongdoing by Aboriginal people. Current Aboriginal justice initiatives emphasize a return to traditional values and processes, manifested in one way in the sentencing circle. Yet, states Goel, such initiatives fail to restore Aboriginal women to their honored place. Contemporary Canadian sentencing circles exemplify this problem; they further injure victims in several respects. Hence, Goel argues that …

Relational Counseling, Janice E. Drury Jan 2000

Relational Counseling, Janice E. Drury

Graduate Research Papers

The author of this paper explores the relational approach to counseling and its potential benefit to clients. The relational approach, in comparison to the more traditional approach to counseling, can give the counselor an alternative framework in which to explore and understand human development and apply counseling methods. Relational theory and its application to women is specifically addressed in this paper, as this approach to counseling may better assist women to speak and be heard in a pattern that makes sense to them. The author also identifies the need for research that expands current realms of thinking in mental health …

Genetic Research: Are More Limitations Needed In The Field, Kristie Sosnowski Jan 2000

Genetic Research: Are More Limitations Needed In The Field, Kristie Sosnowski

Journal of Law and Health

This Note will focus on the medical achievements that have been made, in large part, because of advances in genetic research. Specifically, this Note will focus on the genetic advances associated with the Human Genome Project, Gene Therapy, Genetic Testing, and Human Embryonic Stem Cell Research. The last year of the twentieth century brought scientists one step closer to the successful completion of the Human Genome Project. The Human Genome Project is a government-funded project with the underlying goal of sequencing and mapping the entire human genome. Scientists believe that the completion of this project will aid them in answering …

Success And Growth Of Corals Transplanted To Cement Armor Mat Tiles In Southeast Florida: Implications For Reef Restoration, S. L. Thornton, Richard E. Dodge, David S. Gilliam, R. Devictor, P. Cooke

Marine & Environmental Sciences Faculty Proceedings, Presentations, Speeches, Lectures

In 1997, 271 scleractinian corals growing on a sewer outfall pipe were used in a transplantation study offshore from North Dade County, Florida, USA. Corals were removed from the outfall pipe and transplanted onto concrete armor mat tiles used to cover the pipe. Success (number of corals still attached and alive), mortality (number of dead corals), and growth rates of the transplants were assessed between December 1997 and December 1999. Colony surface area and radius length were measured on scanned photographs to estimate horizontal growth rate. After two years post-transplantation, success rate and overall mortality were 87% and 7.8% respectively. …
