How Is Convergence Best Achieved In International Project Finance?, Catherine Pédamon Jan 2000

How Is Convergence Best Achieved In International Project Finance?, Catherine Pédamon

Fordham International Law Journal

This Essay will first review and then analyze the characteristics of each of three possible routes of convergence in light of three features. The first is stability and predictability of the legal environment. It is the main benefit that private investors look for before investing in a country. The second is the scope of influence and lobbying of interest groups. This feature is extracted from an analysis of the adoption of uniform laws proposed by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws ("NCCUSL") by Professors Ribstein and Kobayashi. These authors find evidence of enactment by states of NCCUSL's …

Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication: Faculty Publications

The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of Agricultural Science and Technology teachers toward integrating science into their curricula. Perceptions regarding integrating science and agriculture, the role of teacher preparation programs in integrating science, and integrating science to meet state standards indicated teachers had a positive attitude toward integrating science into agricultural education programs. More specifically, teachers believed that integrating science assists students in better understanding science concepts and their application to agriculture. According to the teachers in this study, students are more aware of the connection between scientific principles and agriculture and students are better prepared …

Morphology And Photocatalysis Of Titanium Dioxide Aerogels, Sean Kelly Jan 2000

Morphology And Photocatalysis Of Titanium Dioxide Aerogels, Sean Kelly

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

Pollution of our environment has become one of the most serious problems of this century. Titanium dioxide aerogels is composed of nanocrystallites of TiO2 close-packed in roughly spherical mesospheres, which are agglomerated to form a highly-porous sponge. Aerogel morphology produces porosities of around 80% and surface area that can be as large as 1000 m2/g. The aerogels efficiently adsorb organic materials from the environment and when illuminated with UV light, decompose or oxidize the organic pollutants, ultimately to safe by-products such as CO2 and H 2O.

In this work we modify the synthetic conditions to produce aerogels with different morphologies …

A Strategy For Pastors To Mobilize And Equip Lay Members For Evangelism In Tanzania, Herry Mhando Jan 2000

A Strategy For Pastors To Mobilize And Equip Lay Members For Evangelism In Tanzania, Herry Mhando

Doctor of Ministry Projects

Problem. The Seventh-day Adventist church membership in Tanzania is only over 200,000 while the population is more than 32 million. There is a need of a strategy to reach these millions with the gospel. Second, there are about 250 pastors, each taking care of an average of six to ten churches. This heavy pastoral responsibility makes it difficult for them to fulfill their evangelistic responsibilities. The only solution appears to be motivation and equipping of the lay members for evangelism.

Method. With the help of biblical resources and selected literature on the subject, this project focuses on the theology, theories, …

Church Discipline And Grace, Stefan Radu Jan 2000

Church Discipline And Grace, Stefan Radu

Doctor of Ministry Projects

Problem. Local churches are in general confusion about the meaning, importance, and function of church discipline. Hence, this biblical task is mostly ignored, or even opposed by many as being judgmentalism. As a result, baptismal candidates are poorly prepared and sometimes members are allowed to continue in sinful habits. This study sought to research and present material about why and how the church ought to work with sinning believers.

Method. Based on a search of the Holy Scripture, the writings of Ellen G. White, and other theological literature, material for a seminar about church discipline and grace was produced. A …

Moving Seventh-Day Adventist Churches Beyond The Two Hundred Barrier, David Ripley Jan 2000

Moving Seventh-Day Adventist Churches Beyond The Two Hundred Barrier, David Ripley

Doctor of Ministry Projects

Problem. Seventh-day Adventist churches have found themselves largely unable to grow beyond the 200-in-attendance barrier. Book membership may continue to increase, yet attendance plateaus. Outside of the institutional setting, there are very few Anglo Adventist churches that have grown beyond the barrier.

Method. The pastors of ten churches that were chiefly Anglo, 300-400 in attendance, and not in an institutional setting were surveyed. Ten churches with less than 220 in attendance and having a book membership of at least 350 were also surveyed. These were compared, looking for features that would make a difference.

Results. Differences do occur between the …

Enriching The Understanding And Experience Of Baptism In Kenya, Samson Nyang'au Mwebi Jan 2000

Enriching The Understanding And Experience Of Baptism In Kenya, Samson Nyang'au Mwebi

Doctor of Ministry Projects

The Problem and Method Used

Baptism is a church activity conducted every three months in most Seventh-day Adventist churches in Kenya. While it brings joy to see new members join the church, the significance of baptism is not fully reflected in the life of individual believers or of the church. This problem may largely stem from inadequate understanding of the significance and meaning of baptism and its celebration. This study sought to develop ways of improving the practice of baptism in the areas of preparation of candidates for baptism, celebration of baptismal ceremonies, reception of new converts into church membership, …
