In this thesis, I will argue that the Aboriginal peoples whose traditional territories straddle the Canada - United States border have the right to pass and repass the border freely. With this right comes the ability to live and/or work in either country without having to apply for permission each time with Immigration officials. I have suggested that instead of litigating these rights, the governments of both Canada and the United States should commence tri-partite discussions on how best to accommodate these rights, both on an interim basis and permanently through legislation. Many youth in the Adventist Church in Madras do not participate regularly in church activities. Additionally they suffer from the effects of poverty, unemployment, and family tensions.

Task

The task of this dissertation was to develop a youth prayer fellowship that would address the problems of youth in the Madras Adventist Church.

Method

The biblical concept of prayer groups was studied to establish a basis for the prayer fellowship. Insurance companies are hiding behind the guise of words such as "experimental" to avoid paying for treatments that are both feasible and needed. In recent years, African leaders have aggressively sought to strengthen their regional security structures while simultaneously attempting to democratise. Although they recognise that African regional organisations will need to assume a greater role in tackling Africa's security problems, the challenges posed by on-going democratisation efforts have had a visible impact on the effectiveness of some regional organisations. This article examines the challenges that democratisation poses to regional collective security arrangements in Africa, with specific reference to ECOWAS and SADC. Unfortunately, the connection between international prosecutions and the actual deterrence of future atrocities is at best a plausible but largely untested assumption. Actual experience with efforts at deterrence is not encouraging. Before placing too much reliance on deterrence as a basis for supporting international criminal prosecutions, especially over possible alternatives such as truth and reconciliation commissions, we ought at least to consider carefully the obstacles to achieving effective deterrence.

This Comment analyzes U.S. and Russian bilateral cooperation in fighting organized crime and the difficulties associated with this fight. Part I of this Comment presents the historical development of Russian organized crime, its domestic effects, and its internationalization, particularly in the United States. Part I also highlights the Russian government's legislative attempts to combat organized crime. In so far as diplomats are concerned, their immunity from legal process arises under customary international law and treaty law (i.e., the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,' the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations,2 and the New York Convention on Special Missions' (or "New York Convention")). All three conventions state in their preliminaries that diplomatic immunity and privilege arise from international custom and that their function is not to benefit individuals, but to ensure the smooth and efficient performance of their duties in the interest of comity and of friendly relations between sovereign nations.

This paper describes the role of culture in perpetuating violence against women. It does this by contextualizing violence against women in South Africa within the grand project of transformation taking place there, and highlighting the possibilities of fundamental restructuring, with respect to rights and equality for women, when the feminist project intersects with the non-racial project. The paper, therefore, visits a familiar question, namely, the obstacles to transformation when the eradication of racism takes precedence over the elimination of sexism, as it historically has in South Africa. The concept of this dissertation is to research specific filmic representations of historical situations, and to discuss arguments presented in Spielberg's Holocaust by critics such as Bartov, Hansen and Zelizer (1997), that popular films such as Schindler's List are unable to represent history to the same extent as traditional historical texts. Press coverage of the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb, through articles published in the London Times and New York Times from November 30, 1922 to January 31, 1923, will be analyzed. A contract between the excavators and the London Times provided the newspaper with exclusive reports and information, while the New York Times and others initially relied mainly on eye-witness accounts and second hand gossip; This study compares and contrasts different accounts of the same discovery in terms of the themes, tone, and language of relevant articles in the two newspapers.
