The Use Of Isolators For Cytotoxic Handling In Hospital Pharmacies, Gj Sewell
The Use Of Isolators For Cytotoxic Handling In Hospital Pharmacies, Gj Sewell
School of Health Professions
Many issues elating to isolator use in hospital pharmacies are under debate, including the quality of the background environment, sanitisation of materials transferred into isolators, the use of positive or negative pressure isolators for cytotoxics, ergonomics and gaseous sterilisation. However, continuing improvement in isolator design, isolator monitoring and the understanding of isolator technology means that the use of these devices is now well established in the UK and is becoming increasingly widespread throughout mainland Europe.

Oviposition responses of gregarious adult gravid females of the desert locust Schistocerca gregaria to sand previously used for oviposition by gregarious females (contaminated sand, with eggs and froth removed) and to sterilized sand (noncontaminated sand) were compared in bioassays. Gregarious females preferentially oviposited into contaminated sand. The number of egg pods laid by the females was found to correlate with the frequency of use of the contaminated sand for oviposition. Charcoal-trapped volatiles from the contaminated sand also elicited similar responses from gregarious females. Gas chromatography-electroantennographic detection (GC-EAD) analysis of the trapped volatiles revealed the presence of three electrophysiologically active compounds …
Japan's Experience With Deposit Insurance And Failing Banks: Implications For Financial Regulatory Design?, Curtis J. Milhaupt
Japan's Experience With Deposit Insurance And Failing Banks: Implications For Financial Regulatory Design?, Curtis J. Milhaupt
Faculty Scholarship
This Article examines three decades of Japanese experience with deposit insurance andfailing banks, and analyzes the implications of that experience for bank safety net reform in other countries. To date, the literature and policy debate on deposit insurance have been heavily colored by U.S. banking history and have focused almost exclusively on explicit deposit protection schemes. Analysis of Japan's safety net experience suggests that (a) deposit insurance, for all its flaws, is superior to the real-world alternative-implicit government protection of depositors and discretionary regulatory intervention in bank distress, (b) a well-designed explicit deposit insurance system that includes a credible bank …

Zimbabwe: Los Métodos De Detección De Itr En Mujeres No Son Cost-Efectivos, Population Council
Reproductive Health
