Cornhusker Economics

The Department became involved in a faculty exchange program this summer. Four visiting professors joined us in August and will leave on December 14 to return to their respective universities. They have taken classes, traveled and developed class outlines and news articles that will be used when they return home. Following are some of their impressions and things they have done during their visit to the United States. I thought the readers might be interested in some of their thoughts.

Hydrogeology And Paleohydrology In The Williamson River Basin, Klamath County, Oregon, Jeffrey Scott Conaway Dec 1999

Hydrogeology And Paleohydrology In The Williamson River Basin, Klamath County, Oregon, Jeffrey Scott Conaway

Dissertations and Theses

Stress on the water resources of the Williamson River basin has led to their regulation to protect important habitat. Quantification of this resource is required for accurate regulation. A portion of this study is a hydrogeologic reconnaissance that suggests directions for future work. Measured discharge and deuterium isotope data from points above and below the Williamson River canyon indicate that the river receives 99% of its discharge from ground water during periods of low flow. The principle aquifer of the southern Klamath Marsh is a fractured basalt, while continental sediments that are up to 200 m thick provide high artesian …

Victorian Concepts Of The Ideal Man As Evidenced Through His Relationships With Animals: "If She Don't Carry You, You May Shoot Her" Or "Remember Gyp When You Get Home", Mary Ann Peebles Soles

Theses & Honors Papers

In Victorian fiction, the relationships between male characters and the animals with which they come in contact with are interesting. The way Victorian male characters are shown to treat animals revels something about the nature of the men themselves. Therefore, it is important to examine the concept of masculinity at the time. The gender stereotypes that prevailed in Victorian England had a tremendous impact on the portrayal of men and women in the novels written at that time. Male writers, the dominant sex, chose to preserve ideals already present. Female writers did the opposite. The Victorian novelists examined were influenced …
