Department of Animal Science: Faculty Publications
Eleven generations of selection for increased index of ovulation rate and embryonal survival rate, followed by three generations of selection for litter size, were practiced. Laparotomy was used to count corpora lutea and fetuses at 50 d of gestation. High-indexing gilts, approximately 30%, were farrowed. Sons of dams in the upper 10% of the distribution were selected. Selection from Generations 12 to 14 was for increased number of fully formed pigs; replacements were from the largest 25% of the litters. A randomly selected control line was maintained. Responses at Generation 11 were approximately 7.4 ova and 3.8 fetuses at 50 …

An Annotated Bibliography: Published Articles (1861-1998) About The Wild Mammals Of South Dakota, K. F. Higgins, A. E. Gabbert, T. R. Cooper, J. J. Higgins
Research Bulletins of the South Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station (1887-2011)
Our goal in compiling this bibliography was to locate "every" published article with a connection to "any" wild South Dakota mammal. However, we understood from the start that this goal would be unattainable. Consequently, this collection can provide only a point of origin to readers interested in obtaining published studies (popular and scientific) about the wild mammals of South Dakota.

In February this year nineteen people from all over Western Australia were brought together to explore their leadership potential. These nineteen people came from different walks of life and professions but they all had a common passion, rural Western Australia, and they all had a common goal - to gain skills so that they could lead this state into a thriving 21 century. Without the support of our family and friends, employers and others we would not have accomplished half of what we have over the …
