Proceedings Of The 1998 Annual Leadership Symposium, Portland State University. Institute Of Portland Metropolitan Studies
Institute of Metropolitan Studies Publications
The Institute of Portland Metropolitan Studies was created to better connect the resources of higher education to the issues of the six-county Portland-Vancouver Metropolitan Area, and to bring new attention to critical regional issues. Annually the Institute organizes a Leadership Symposium to bring citizens and leaders together to hear new information and ideas about the metropolitan area and its issues, and to discuss and identify new courses of action.

Analytical Solution Of The Generalized Discrete Poisson Equation, G. Y. Hu, Jai Yon Ryu, R. F. O'Connell
Analytical Solution Of The Generalized Discrete Poisson Equation, G. Y. Hu, Jai Yon Ryu, R. F. O'Connell
Faculty Publications
We present an analytical solution to the generalized discrete Poisson equation, a matrix equation which has a tridiagonal matrix with fringes having an arbitrary value for the diagonal elements. The results are of relevance to a variety of physical problems, which require the numerical solution of the Poisson equation. As examples, the formula has been applied to the solution of the electrostatic problem of tunnelling junction arrays with two and three rows.

One aspect of the complexity of mid- and high-harmonic generation in highintensity laser-plasma interactions is that nonlinear hydrodynamics is virtually always folded together with the nonlinear optical conversion process. We have partly dissected this issue in picosecond and subpicosecond interactions with preformed plasma gradients, imaging and spectrally resolving low- and mid-order harmonics. We describe spatial breakup of the picosecond beam in preformed plasmas, concomitant broaden~ng and breakup of the harmonic spectrum. presumably through self-phase modulation, together with data on the sensitivity of harmonics production efficiency to the gradient or extent of prefomed plasma. Lastly. we show preliminary data of regular …

Fertigation Basics, Charles M. Burt
Fertigation Basics, Charles M. Burt
BioResource and Agricultural Engineering
Fertigation is widely practiced with drip irrigation, yet remains very unsophisticated. Major areas which need improvement are (i) making certain the irrigation system applies water with a high DU (uniformity), (ii) using proper injection pumps and protection hardware, (iii) recognizing that chemicals can interact with each other and with water to form precipitates which will clog emitters, (iv) understanding of nutrient ratios in plants and soil, (v) recognizing that nitrogen fertilization requires attention to the type of nitrogen, and (vi) developing programs for spoon-feeding chemicals. This paper covers the first 4 topics, plus discusses some specific fertilizers.

The Wooster Voice (Wooster, Oh), 1998-11-19, Wooster Voice Editors
The Voice: 1991-2000
This edition of the Wooster Voice from November 19, 1998 is twelve pages long. The first page has an article about the student's reaction to the Iraq situation. At 3am on November 4, twelve students were awakened with phone calls that their cars were going to be towed if they didn't move them. The third page has an article about the Campus Council's view on the smoking policy. Matthew Anderson wrote an article on page four titled, "The challenges of being Greek." Also on the fourth page, Brian Little has an article titled, "It's a date rape double standard," which …
