To Cherish A Just And Lasting Peace, Gerry Adams Jan 1998

To Cherish A Just And Lasting Peace, Gerry Adams

Fordham International Law Journal

In the opening line of the diary that he kept during the first three weeks of his hunger strike, republican prisoner Bobby Sands, who died after fifty-five days on strike, wrote: "I am standing on the threshold of another trembling world." This system has created a unionist one party state that has rejected basic principles of democracy, justice, and equality. Throughout the development of our peace strategy and the talks process, republicans pursued the peace process in the context of our republican analysis of the situation and with a solid strategy to meet all of the difficulties head on. Documentary Credit Law And Practice In The Global Information Age, Jacqueline D. Lipton Jan 1998

Documentary Credit Law And Practice In The Global Information Age, Jacqueline D. Lipton

Fordham International Law Journal

Documentary letters of credit have historically been an important and popular method of payment in international trading transactions. In fact, they have been described as the "lifeblood of international commerce." A number of uniform international practices have developed for their use, many of which are codified in international rules such as Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits. In the global information age, as the nature of international commerce changes, so too must the operation of such payment mechanisms. With the increase in electronic trading, the "documentary" nature of these credits may require some revision. This Essay examines ways in …

Sport Tourism: A Business Inherency Or An Innate Compulsion?, Joseph Kurtzman, John Zauhar Jan 1998

Sport Tourism: A Business Inherency Or An Innate Compulsion?, Joseph Kurtzman, John Zauhar

Visions in Leisure and Business

Human interactions are usually reconcilable by certain mutually acceptable actions-- that is by interpretation and balance between stimulus and response. As such, specific or symbolic behaviours give meaning to Sport Tourism. Conditions springing from actions take into account opportunities, means, demands, discomforts, impositions and the like. Decisions are based on the assessment of these factors--be it by the individual, by the collectivity or societal quest. Furthermore, decisional behaviours are defined or structured in terms of business procedures, holistic conditions or mediated interpretations--in essence, an interactionist approach to Sport Tourism.

An Investigation Of Selected Factors On Golfer Attachment, James F. Petrick, Sheila J. Backman, Robert D. Bixler

Visions in Leisure and Business

While little change has occurred in the total number of golfers in the United States, the total number of golf courses is rapidly increasing (3). This increase in market competition has made it vital for resort owners and managers to examine the variables which influence golfers to use and return to their facilities. A relationship that appears to form between golfers and golf courses which has been neglected is place attachment. The purpose of this study was to examine whether or not place attachment actually occurs on a golf course. A second purpose was to investigate the relationship between attachment …
