In Study 1,we explored whether guns presented for target shooting would lead subjects to assign longer prison sentences for crimes unrelated to the guns. Weapon-condition subjects recommended longer sentences than did control subjects, who had experienced equally energizing sports activities. In Study 2, subjects acting as jurors watched a police officer’s videotaped deposition about a burglary arrest. Through the deposition, subjects in all conditions received identical information about the gun. However, some subjects heard the description of the gun taken from the burglar; some heard the description and saw the gun when it was placed on the evidence table near …

New Slate Of Classes, Fees, Schedules At Ud Caters To Needs Of Adult Students, University Of Dayton
News Releases
Starting this fall, "evening" at the University of Dayton will no longer begin at 4:30 p.m. That's been the starting time of many night classes for undergraduates, and it has served the traditional student resident population well. But it's not convenient for working adults in the Miami Valley who are interested in pursuing an undergraduate degree but can't get to campus until later in the day. In August, the University will start an adult degree program at reduced tuition to serve students who are 24 and older and interested in pursuing undergraduate degrees in business management, communication, psychology, general studies …

Vcu Voice (1998-06-08)
VCU Voice, 1988-1998
VCU Today, the University’s first official administrative organ, began as a somewhat irregular monthly publication but moved to a bi-weekly newspaper format in the 1980s. The newspaper changed its name to VCU Voice in 1988 and ten years later it appeared under the title UniverCity News. As it neared the end of its run as a physical newspaper, the publication became simply VCU News. These four publications were essentially the same periodical published under different titles by the Office of University Relations. VCU News appeared online for the first time in 2002.

Effect Of Participation In A Daily Reading Log On The Reading Attitude And Achievement In Low To High Achievers, Jody M. Strauss
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of a daily reading log on the attitude and comprehension of sixth grade low to high achieving students. The study consisted of forty-eight students divided among two classes. Half of the students used the daily reading log and were compared with the other half who did not use daily reading logs for a sixteen week period. The spring 1997 standardized testing placed students in the low to high ranges in reading.
The students were tested in September and again in March after participating in the daily reading log program. Students' …

Coping Mechanisms Used By Socially And Emotionally Isolated Older Adults, Paulla Dechmann
Theses and Graduate Projects
This exploratory and descriptive qualitative study was undertaken to examine the nature of social and emotional isolation as it impacts older adults by examining the coping mechanisms they use. The participants (N=15), clients of Senior Community Services and CommonBond Communities, completed a structured interview consisting of nineteen primarily open-ended questions. The study looked at the issues of social and emotional isolation as it was identified by participants, the amount of support they received, and the methods they used to cope with any recognized feelings of isolation. The survey identified those persons involved in the senior's life, how frequently contact was …
