Hamstring Tendons As Autograft Replacements In Acl Reconstructions: A Review Of The Literature, Jason Anderson
Hamstring Tendons As Autograft Replacements In Acl Reconstructions: A Review Of The Literature, Jason Anderson
Physical Therapy Scholarly Projects
Hamstring tendons have gained a great deal of acceptance in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction procedures in the 1990's, but some misconceptions concerning the ability of hamstring grafts to successfully replace ruptured ACLs still exist. More surgeons are using hamstring tendons to reconstruct ACL-deficient knees because their harvest does not disrupt the extensor mechanism of the knee. Enthusiasts of the hamstring graft believe that it promotes quicker return of quadriceps strength and knee range of motion without a prevalence of postoperative pateIIofemoral symptoms.
The purpose of this review is to dispute the concerns that exist concerning the initial tensile strength, …

Educational Use Of Video Tape And Cable To Communicate Information, Donna Lynne Maury, Mary Ann Burke
Theses Digitization Project
As educators, communicating timely, important information to parents and to the community is a challenge. By using video technology, the ability to convey such information is not only possible but rather simple. Taking it one step further, utilizing cable television allows for the transmission of a variety of information to every living room in our community.

Laboratory Efficacy Study With A Warfarin Bait To Control The Black-Tailed Prairie Dog, Jeff J. Mach
Laboratory Efficacy Study With A Warfarin Bait To Control The Black-Tailed Prairie Dog, Jeff J. Mach
Vertebrate Pest Conference Proceedings: 18th (1998)
Control of the black-tailed prairie dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) is important for the reclamation of pasture ground for domestic cattle and limiting the spread of disease to humans and other wildlife. Six different concentrations of warfarin bait were fed to prairie dogs to determine mortality. Without the access to dietary vitamin K, the prairie dogs were susceptible to the warfarin bait. However, some of the prairie dogs recovered and survived the test after bait exposure was terminated. This could be due to physiological differences and the availability of fat-soluble vitamin K. The six different concentrations of warfarin consumed by …

Beyond Misguided Paternalism: Resuscitating The Right To Refuse Medical Treatment, S. Elizabeth Malloy
Beyond Misguided Paternalism: Resuscitating The Right To Refuse Medical Treatment, S. Elizabeth Malloy
Faculty Articles and Other Publications
The author focuses on the failure of the courts to provide a remedy for the right to refuse medical treatment. Health care providers, for a number of reasons, often ignore patient requests to forgo certain life-extending medical procedures. The courts have generally allowed medical professionals complete discretion in deciding whether to honor patients' requests. When patients
or their estates sue health care providers for violation of the right to refuse treatment, courts have refused to award damages. By failing to provide a remedy, the courts effectively make the right a meaningless one. While acknowledging the importance of physician autonomy, the …

The Effects Of Soothing Sounds On Individual Seatwork, Brady J. Delaurenti
Education | Print Theses
Music is an extremely powerful medium that has the ability to affect people in many ways. Of primary concern to educators is music's capacity to produce a calming effect in people. A study was conducted to determine the effect of soothing music and sounds on students' performance on individual seatwork. The study indicates that the playing of soothing music or sounds during times of individual seatwork increases time on task, productivity, and academic success.
