Motivational Functions Of Volunteerism: Similarities And Differences Between Low & High Risk Communities, Deborah L. Cole
Motivational Functions Of Volunteerism: Similarities And Differences Between Low & High Risk Communities, Deborah L. Cole
Theses and Dissertations
A functional approach provides a framework for identifying psychological and behavioral aspects associated with decision-making, experiences, and consequences. The functional approach to volunteerism suggests that different people, or sub-populations, may actually be motivated to serve based upon individual and varying personal, social, and psychological functions. The purpose of the study was to investigate any motivational differences or similarities between adults living in high at-risk and low at-risk communities with regard to volunteerism.
High and low at-risk communities were identified by the seven community at-risk indicators suggested by the Carnegie Council on Adolescents. Those communities with three or less indicators were …

Determination Of Particle And Gas Convective Heat Transfer Components In A Circulating Fluidized Bed., William Burgess Fox
Determination Of Particle And Gas Convective Heat Transfer Components In A Circulating Fluidized Bed., William Burgess Fox
Theses and Dissertations
Low temperature (below 600 K) heat transfer between the wall and two-phase gas and solid flow in fluidized beds has been widely recognized to consist of two components. Particle convection, which is due to the convective exchange of particles of a high heat capacity at the surface and gas convection which is due to the motion and heat capacity of the gas in contact with the surface.Simultaneous heat and mass transfer experiments were conducted to determine the particle and gas convective components in a cold flow circulating fluidized bed. Heat and mass transfer at the wall was measured for silica …

Lingnan University's Milestone in Hong Kong - Featured Newspapers Clipping
Since its foundation in 1967, Lingnan College reached its 30th anniversary in 1997. Over the last three decades, Lingnan College grew and transformed from a small private college operating with a few classrooms to a degree-granting institution with a new and purpose-built campus in Tuen Mun. Lingnan College's 30th anniversary celebration in 1998 reached the apex and the year also marked the 110th anniversary of Lingnan University in Canton founded in 1888.
Special report was published in South China Morning Post to commemorate and celebrate the occasion of the 30th anniversary and the College's remarkable achievements over the years.

Chik Tek Symposium Revisited, Helen Wood
Chik Tek Symposium Revisited, Helen Wood
SWITCH
The 1998 article, "Chik Tek Symposium Revisited", by Helen Wood, consists of interviews with female artists who all used technology in their work. The Chik Tek symposium took place in November 1997 at the San Jose Museum of Art where many women would share their works and thoughts through presentations and discussions. The title of the show, "Chik Tek" seemed questionable due to the fact that this show was meant to discuss women, and the equality in their work and the art or tech field. Yet, the title was rather stereotypical for women who wanted to encourage empowerment and feminism. …
