Nebraska Game and Parks Commission: White Papers, Conference Presentations, and Manuscripts

This survey was conducted by Nebraska Natural Heritage Program of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission with funding received from the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Reclamation, Grand Island office. This agreement was entered into on April 16, 1996. The objective of the agreement was to conduct a survey of a portion of the Loup River basin floodplain corridor for rare plant communities and plant and animal species. This is the final report of that survey. This report includes not only data collected directly as a result of field survey work associated with the project but also previous …

The Anchor, Volume 111.19: April 15, 1998, Hope College

The Anchor: 1998

The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). In recent years The Anchor moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. The Anchor is now published in print twice per academic semester. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

An Internship Experience To Improve The School Climate At Upper Pittsgrove School Through The Teaching Of Courteous Behaviors And Service, Susan Perna Apr 1998

An Internship Experience To Improve The School Climate At Upper Pittsgrove School Through The Teaching Of Courteous Behaviors And Service, Susan Perna

Theses and Dissertations

The purpose of this study is to provide evidence to support the statement that all students will be able to follow a basic code of courteous behaviors and participate in service learning during school to improve the climate of the school and to produce a caring community. Surveys were administered to the staff and students at the beginning, midpoint, and end of the year to assess the current school climate conditions. A daily tabulation of behavior incidents was used as a statistical comparison to last year's to determine whether the program had any effect on reducing the number of behavior …

Intelligent Assistance For Human Supervisory Control Of Multiple Robots, Robin R. Murphy, Erika Rogers Apr 1998

Intelligent Assistance For Human Supervisory Control Of Multiple Robots, Robin R. Murphy, Erika Rogers

Computer Science and Software Engineering

This paper reviews on-going collaborative efforts between the Colorado School of Mines and Clark-Atlanta University in cooperative assistance for coordination and control of multiple vehicles. It reports on progress in developing an intelligent assistance agent (IAA) for aiding a human operator in diagnosing problems and generating recovery strategies in remote ground robots. The current work has focused on the identification and incorporation of categories of additional information from multiple robots and other agents. These categories are: mission-related sources, such as peer robots working nearby; facility-related sources, such as security cameras; and opportunistically available agents, such as overhead satellites or humans …

Measurement Of B(D0 → K-Π+) Using Partial Reconstruction Of B̅ → D*+Xℓ- Ν̅, M. Artuso, Kenneth A. Bloom, Cleo Collaboration Apr 1998

Measurement Of B(D0 → K-Π+) Using Partial Reconstruction Of B̅ → D*+Xℓ- Ν̅, M. Artuso, Kenneth A. Bloom, Cleo Collaboration

Kenneth Bloom Publications

We present a measurement of the absolute branching fraction for D0 → K-π+ using the reconstruction of the decay chain B̅ → D*+Xℓ- ν̅ where only the lepton and the low-momentum pion from the D*+ are detected. With data collected by the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have determined Ɓ(D0 → K-π+)= [3.81 ± 0.15(stat) ± 0.16(syst)]%.

Evidence For A Scalar Kappa(900) Resonance In Pi-K Scattering, Joseph Schechter, Deirdre Black, Amir H. Fariborz, Francesco Sannino Apr 1998

Evidence For A Scalar Kappa(900) Resonance In Pi-K Scattering, Joseph Schechter, Deirdre Black, Amir H. Fariborz, Francesco Sannino

Physics - All Scholarship

Motivated by the 1/N_c\ expansion, we study a simple model in which the pi-K scattering amplitude is the sum of a current-algebra contact term and resonance pole exchanges. This phenomenological model is crossing symmetric and, when a putative light strange scalar meson, kappa, is included, satisfies the unitarity bounds to well above 1 GeV. The model also features chiral dynamics, vector meson dominance and appropriate interference between the established scalar K*(1430) resonance and its predicted background. We briefly discuss the physical significance of the results and directions for further work.
