The Effect Of Atp-Dependent Potassium Channel Blocker, Glimeprid, On The Arrhythmiasobserved Following Ischemia And Reperfusion In Anesthesized Rats, Ömer Bozdoğan, Istvan Lepran, Julius Gy Pap
Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences
In recent years, it has been discussed intensively whether the potassium channel openers or blockers have antiarrhythmic effect during ischemia and reperfusion. Although there are many in vitro studies suggesting the potassium channel blokers especial-ly glibenclamide have antiarrhythmic effect, there is a very few in vivo expertiment to support the same result. In the present study, left arteria coronaria descendence (LAD) was ligated in 6min and following reperfusion was made by relasing the ligature. ECG and arterial blood pressure were recorded during the ischemia and reperfusion. The heart rate, the length of arrhythmia, the score of arrhythmia and the number …

The purpose of this study is to examine the morphological effect which appears in acini and ductus of palatine glands in patients wearing total prostheses. Acini had considerably wide lumens due to de-generation and desquamation in secretory epithelial cells in those who wear prostheses during varying periods. It was observed that, in regions adjacent to the apical membrane in most of the epithelial cells of acini and excretory canals, large vacuoles were formed, whereas in some others, cytoplasm was disarranged due to membrane destruction. Cytoplasmic structures which were encountered in these cells underwent to degeneration and desquamation as well as …

School reform initiatives have been part of public school change for some time. In the past two decades, this author has participated in implementing several educational changes within a public school classroom. Some of these changes have involved learning new teaching strategies, integrating technology into the curriculum, implementing new concepts such as whole language, and participating in workshops to learn about "new" educational topics.
Often these change efforts were embraced by educators as new and innovative ways to help students learn. However, many of these changes were tried and discarded because no ongoing effort was made to incorporate them systematically …

I had my life mapped out, nursing school and then gaining specialized training in the area of pediatrics. l should have known that college would open doors. In my sophomore year of college, I stood in front of the mirror in my dorm room and asked myself, "What do you really want to do with your life?" It was then when my heart answered me, a teacher. From that point forward, education has been my passion and life blood. It …
Classroom Discussion: A Journey To Decentralizing The Classroom, Mike Suther
Classroom Discussion: A Journey To Decentralizing The Classroom, Mike Suther
Graduate Research Papers
Throughout history of the United States, teachers have instigated classroom discussion about text in hopes that talk enhanced understanding. More recently, Vygotsky (1978) produced evidence of the importance of social talk in learning. It is through this social interaction or discussion that students construct and negotiate meaning of text. What constitutes social interaction or discussion is what leads some teachers to disagree. The literature on discussion has classified it into two types: recitation and discussion.

One of the primary obstacles to understanding why some oyster populations are successful and others are not is the complex interaction of environmental variables with oyster physiology and with such population variables as the rates of recruitment and juvenile mortality. A numerical model is useful in investigating how population structure originates out of this complexity. We have monitored a suite of environmental conditions over an environmental gradient to document the importance of short time-scale variations in such variables as food supply, turbidity, and salinity. Then, using a coupled oyster disease population dynamics model, we examine the need for short rime-scale …
