There are several species of Cryptosporidium, most of which infect only specific species of animals.

Victim Impact Testimony In Texas: The Need For Reformation And Clarification, Meghan E. Miller

Texas Wesleyan Law Review

Since Payne, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals has made several attempts to address the admissibility of victim impact testimony in capital sentencing cases, but the court's decisions have only confused the situation. This Note discusses the confusion and inconsistencies of these decisions and advocates that the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals permit the use of all victim impact evidence in capital murder sentencing proceedings. Part I of this Note defines victim impact evidence and summarizes the development of victim impact testimony in capital murder cases. That section also discusses the different types of victim impact testimony and the intent …

Dopamine Depletion Reorganizes Projections From The Nucleus Accumbens And Ventral Pallidum That Mediate Opioid-Induced Motor Activity, Lynn Churchill, Mark A. Klitenick, Peter W. Kalivas Oct 1998

Dopamine Depletion Reorganizes Projections From The Nucleus Accumbens And Ventral Pallidum That Mediate Opioid-Induced Motor Activity, Lynn Churchill, Mark A. Klitenick, Peter W. Kalivas

MUSC Faculty Journal Articles

Motor activity elicited pharmacologically from the nucleus accumbens by the µ-opioid receptor agonist d-Ala-Tyr-Gly-NMePhe-Gly-OH (DAMGO) is augmented in rats sustaining dopamine depletions. GABAergic projections from the nucleus accumbens to ventral pallidum and ventral tegmental area (VTA) are involved because stimulation of GABAB receptors in the VTA (by baclofen) or GABAA receptors in the ventral pallidum (by muscimol) inhibit the motor response induced by the microinjection of DAMGO into the nucleus accumbens. The present study was done to determine which of these projections is mediating the augmented DAMGO-induced motor activity that follows 6-hydroxydopamine lesions of the nucleus accumbens. The inhibition of …

Use Of Another's Trademark In A Web Page Meta Tag: Why Liability Should Not Ensue Under The Lanham Act For Trademark Infringement, Michael R. Sees

Texas Wesleyan Law Review

This Comment argues that liability for trademark infringement should not ensue under the Lanham Act when an unauthorized user incorporates a senior holder's registered trademark in a web page meta tag.4 Part I discusses the Lanham Act and the various elements that must be satisfied in order to prevail on a cause of action for trademark infringement. Part II provides a background of the Internet and World Wide Web. Part III discusses how a typical cause of action for trademark infringement in this situation may arise. Part IV analyzes the issue and demonstrates why liability should not ensue. In short, …

Fisheries Research Report No. 112 - Final Report, Frdc Project 94/075: Enhancement Of Yabby Production From Western Australian Farm Dams, Fisheries Western Australia, Fisheries Research And Development Corporation Oct 1998

Fisheries Research Report No. 112 - Final Report, Frdc Project 94/075: Enhancement Of Yabby Production From Western Australian Farm Dams, Fisheries Western Australia, Fisheries Research And Development Corporation

Fisheries Research Reports

Farmers receive higher prices per kilo for large yabbies. Yabby farmers have reported that the majority of yabbies trapped from farm dams are below market size (< 30 g) and therefore of no economic value. In addition, farmers also report that while dams produce large yabbies when first harvested, after a number of years the proportion of large animals gradually decreases.

To identify why yabbies in farm dams stunted and how farmers could increase the size of small yabbies the project had three main experimental areas.

Research station experiments: A field research station consisting of 25 ponds was constructed for running replicated, randomised and reproducible experiments, with controls, in an environment that simulated farm dams. In addition, these ponds were large enough to provide an adequate sample number of yabbies at realistic industry stocking …

Reports, Karl Niederer, Sabine Jessner, Carla Crosby, Erdmann Schmocker, Fred Moser, Ernest Thurston, Leo Schelbert

Swiss American Historical Society Review

At 10:00 A.M., President Karl I. Niederer called the business meeting to order. He expressed the Society's thanks to His Excellency, Ambassador Alfred Defago for hosting this meeting and to staff Member Ms. Florence Nicole for having so efficiently taken care of all the local arrangements. The Society has traditionally met here in Washington every third year. Our Washington meetings also mark the conclusion of outgoing officers' three-year terms and the election of new officers, so meeting in this place has a special significance. Mr. Niederer also expressed his deep appreciation to Ambassador and Mrs. Defago for welcoming us to …
