The Body Of Christ: The Claim Of The Crucified People On U.S. Theology And Ethics, Robert Lassalle-Klein
The Body Of Christ: The Claim Of The Crucified People On U.S. Theology And Ethics, Robert Lassalle-Klein
Journal of Hispanic / Latino Theology
This essay addresses the claim of the crucified people of El Salvador on theology and ethics, as they are done in the United States. Part I discusses the idea of the "crucified people," grounding the concept in the historical reality of the crucified people of El Mozote, El Salvador, and interpreting its meaning with reference to the overarching theological notion of the reign of God, presented in soteriological perspective. Part II develops a formal philosophical and theological outline of the Christian historical realism behind this important new concept, before presenting and interpreting the claims the crucified people present to theology …
Knowledge, Attitudes And Behavior Of African American Undergraduate College Students Concerning Primary Preventative Health, Lionas Mayes
Knowledge, Attitudes And Behavior Of African American Undergraduate College Students Concerning Primary Preventative Health, Lionas Mayes
McCabe Thesis Collection
African Americans' knowledge about primary preventive health and their attitudes toward primary preventive health influence their health behavior. Primary preventive health behavior is also affected by the individuals' definition of health and the significance they ascribe to their health status. Attitudes toward primary preventive health determine whether health assessment is important in preventing disease. African Americans have a myriad of views about health and general well being. The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between primary preventive health knowledge, primary preventive health attitudes and primary preventive health behavior in African American undergraduate students. A survey will be …

Allowing Fda Regulation Of Communications Software Used In Telemedicine: A Potentially Fatal Misdiagnosis?, Ann K. Schooley
Allowing Fda Regulation Of Communications Software Used In Telemedicine: A Potentially Fatal Misdiagnosis?, Ann K. Schooley
Federal Communications Law Journal
Communications technology is changing and improving the way that health care services are delivered to patients. Telemedicine, or the use of communications technology to provide medical care, allows doctors to treat patients in rural areas who otherwise would not have access to medical services. With the development and use of telemedicine, however, comes the burden of government regulation. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is just beginning to assert its jurisdiction over telemedicine, seeking to regulate telemedicine systems as medical devices under 21 U.S.C. § 321(h). Should the FDA strongly assert its jurisdiction, it has the ability to regulate entire …

Invasion Genetics Of The Mediterranean Fruit Fly: Variation In Multiple Nuclear Introns, F. X. Villablanca, G. K. Roderick, S. R. Palumbi
Invasion Genetics Of The Mediterranean Fruit Fly: Variation In Multiple Nuclear Introns, F. X. Villablanca, G. K. Roderick, S. R. Palumbi
Biological Sciences
Biological invasions generally start from low initial population sizes, leading to reduced genetic variation in nuclear and especially mitochondrial DNA. Consequently, genetic approaches for the study of invasion history and population structure are difficult. An extreme example is the Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata (Medfly), for which successive invasions during this century have resulted in a loss of 60% of ancestral genetic variation in isozymes and 75% of variation in mitochondrial DNA. Using Medflies as an example, we present a new approach to invasion genetics that measures DNA sequence variation within introns from multiple nuclear loci. These loci are so …

Amphibians And Reptiles [Of The Sand Hills], Patricia W. Freeman
Amphibians And Reptiles [Of The Sand Hills], Patricia W. Freeman
School of Natural Resources: Faculty Publications
Of the 60 species of amphibians and reptiles presently known from Nebraska, 27 are found in the Sand Hills and one more is marginal to the east. Fourteen species of the 60 are essentially state wide in distribution, including the Sand Hills, and eight species of reptiles are strongly influenced by the Sand Hills (Lynch, 1985). Of 12 species that occur widely over the moister eastern part of the state, only four extend into the Sand Hills, and one occurs only under the wet conditions along the rivers of the eastern Sand Hills.

Opportunities For Growing Short-Rotation Woody Crops In Agroforestry Practices, Gary A. Kuhn, W. J. Rietveld
Opportunities For Growing Short-Rotation Woody Crops In Agroforestry Practices, Gary A. Kuhn, W. J. Rietveld
Agroforestry Notes (USDA-NAC)
Technologies are readily available for growing hybrid poplars and willows in block plantings as short-rotation woody crops (SRWC) for fuel and fiber. SRWC species and technologies can also be incorporated into agricultural systems as agroforestry practices. Examples are windbreaks, living snowfences, “timberbelts”, riparian buffer strips, and wastewater treatment plantings. Fast growth, convenient propagation (see AF Note - 11), and compatibility with conventional farming methods make SRWC suitable for use in agroforestry practices to provide multiple benefits such as solid wood and wood fiber products, water quality improvement, crop and soil protection, wildlife habitat, and buffers for agricultural/community interfaces.
