A Study Of What Criteria Are Used To Decide On Flexible Funding For "Wraparound" Services In A Four County Collaborative, Janae T. Lucht Apr 1997

A Study Of What Criteria Are Used To Decide On Flexible Funding For "Wraparound" Services In A Four County Collaborative, Janae T. Lucht

Theses and Graduate Projects

Collaboration is being recognized as a successful approach in the service delivery to children and families. The wraparound process is a collaborative approach that is an alternative to traditional services delivery for children with severe emotional disturbances and their families. A primary mechanism for the wraparound process is the availability and accessibility of flexible funds in order to develop and implement non-categorical services, that is, services not already in categories approved for funding.

This study explores flexible funding, the criteria used, and perceptions of the decision makers when reviewing an application for flexible funds. The following two research questions are …

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: The Recognized But Undefined Federal Psychotherapist-Patient Privilege, M. Brett Fulkerson Apr 1997

One Step Forward, Two Steps Back: The Recognized But Undefined Federal Psychotherapist-Patient Privilege, M. Brett Fulkerson

Missouri Law Review

Instead of demanding every man's evidence, as is the general presumption, courts recognize the need for some evidence to remain private. Federal Rule of Evidence 501 governs federal evidentiary privileges without defining or identifying specific privileges. As a result, courts have developed privileges on a case-by-case basis, including the recognition of a psychotherapist-patient privilege. As different circuits pass judgment on the psychotherapist-patient privilege, conflict inevitably arises. Some circuits simply reject the privilege, while others recognize the privilege but apply it differently. The recognition of the psychotherapist-patient privilege was the necessary first step, but leaving the privilege undefined encourages litigation and …

A Feminist View Of American Elder Law, Rebecca Korzec Apr 1997

A Feminist View Of American Elder Law, Rebecca Korzec

All Faculty Scholarship

ANY discussion of contemporary American elder law must consider gender issues. A number of gender concerns are readily discernible, including workplace and family issues. Significantly, sex-based disparities are increasing within the elderly population. In turn, these disparities exacerbate problems of fairness and equity in meeting intergenerational family needs and expectations.

As with childrearing, in contemporary American society, the major caregiving responsibility for the growing number of frail elderly falls largely on women rather than men. With an increasing number of women working outside the family home, the intersection of work and family issues is receiving considerable attention both in academic …

Determinants Of Worker Perceptions Of Team Effectiveness, Scott D. Mist Apr 1997

Determinants Of Worker Perceptions Of Team Effectiveness, Scott D. Mist

Masters Theses

This study measures perceptions of team effectiveness in a research and development organization from data obtained during an evaluation of a Federal Re-Invention Laboratory. The study is a secondary analysis which examines five scales, selected for their ability to measure team performance and satisfaction through the use of several values, behaviors and attitudes. These include empowerment, cohesion, team fitness, culture-power distribution, and culture.

A confirmatory factor analysis was used to analyze the strength of the question items of the scales. The factors were then utilized in four logistic regression analyses of dependent variables.

The analyses showed the relative strength of …

Focal Point, Volume 11 Number 01, Portland State University. Regional Research Institute

Research and Training Center - Focal Point

In the discussion on the issues of juvenile crime, the nation has ignored the prevalence of mental disorders among youth who commit crimes, and it has failed to provide policy directives on how state systems should respond. With the nation’s attention riveted on youth violence, the issue of prevalence has began to emerge, with the realization that many of the violent acts are committed by a small percentage of young people. Policymakers are beginning to ask questions about the conditions that contribute to a young person’s tendency toward delinquency acts.

The Rapture: A Challenging Vision Of Horror, Carl Greiner Apr 1997

The Rapture: A Challenging Vision Of Horror, Carl Greiner

Journal of Religion & Film

Can horror characterize a religious experience? Can God today still be terrifying (tremendum) as well as attractive (fascinans)? The Rapture presents a horrifying view of an apparently malevolent God. Can such a view be tolerated in today's Western culture? Can Sharon's be an authentic religious experience? The film suspends the viewer between a variety of interpretations. Is the story of the experience a prophetic religious statement, the biography of a madness, or simply a satire? The text and imagery of the film make this question a potent stimulus for discussion and reflection.

Family Law Of The Two Chinas: A Comparative Look At The Rights Of Married Women In The People's Republic Of China And The Republic Of China, Janice A. Lee Apr 1997

Family Law Of The Two Chinas: A Comparative Look At The Rights Of Married Women In The People's Republic Of China And The Republic Of China, Janice A. Lee

Cardozo Journal of International and Comparative Law

The note examines the rights of married women in the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Taiwan, highlighting how traditional Confucian values continue to influence family law and practice despite legal reforms aimed at promoting gender equality. It argues that while both countries have enacted progressive laws, societal attitudes and enforcement mechanisms often undermine these legal advancements, perpetuating women's subordinate status.
