Examining The Complex Relationship Between Social Support And Self-Reported Physical And Emotional Status Of Older Adults, Janet L. Cahill

Theses and Graduate Projects

This exploratory quantitative study was undertaken to examine the complex relationship between social support and the self-reported physical and emotional health status of older adults. The participants (N=30), clients and volunteers of DARTS (Dakota Area Resources and Transportation For Seniors), completed a structured interview consisting of twenty-one questions from two validated questionnaires. The survey measured physical health status, emotional well-being and perceived social support of the participants. The implications of the findings of this study, although complex in nature, are consistent with past studies and will assist DARTS in planning and evaluating services for seniors and their caregivers in Dakota …

"The Holy Grail": An Epic Spiritual Quest For Modern Times By Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Rodney Llyn Shetler

Theses & Honors Papers

This thesis will explore the characters and situations presented by Tennyson in "The Holy Grail" to reveal their human qualities and frailties for the purposes of examination and reflection in order to gain a greater understanding of spirituality . I intended Arthur to represent the Ideal Soul of Man coming into contact with the warring elements of the flesh" (qtd. in Ricks 671). Hallam Tennyson, as well, observes that "Throughout the …

Erp Analysis Using Matched Filtering, Correlation Coefficient And Mann-Whitney Test, Yun Yan Jun 1997

Erp Analysis Using Matched Filtering, Correlation Coefficient And Mann-Whitney Test, Yun Yan

Dissertations and Theses

Event related potentials (ERPs) carry very important information that relate to the performance of the brain functions of a human being. Further studies have identified that the late positive complex (LPC) are affected by the memory process.

The matched filter method is used to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of signal ERPs. We use the output of the matched filter to distinguish the difference of the waveforms. In our study, we found that the peak values of the matched filter output differed among normal subjects and memory-impaired subjects.

The correlation coefficient is a statistical value that can be applied to find …
