Linking Child Labour With International Trade: Recent Developments And Their Implications, Rupa Chanda
Linking Child Labour With International Trade: Recent Developments And Their Implications, Rupa Chanda
Working Papers
In recent years, child labour has become increasingly linked to important global economic forces such as international trade. In the context of unilateral, regional, and multilateral trade policies, there have been discussions about subjecting products made with child labour to trade penalties and sanctions. These proposals have generated much controversy and concern. This paper aims at providing a comprehensive understanding of recent developments in the trade and child labour linkage within the broader framework of the labour standards and trade debate. It also assesses the validity and effectiveness of using trade-related measures to address the problem of child labour by …

Weak Calf Syndrome An Indirect Result Of Cold-Weather Stress, Bill Epperson
Weak Calf Syndrome An Indirect Result Of Cold-Weather Stress, Bill Epperson
SDSU Extension Extra Archives
Severe winter conditions are commonplace in many geographical areas where beef is produced. However, cold temperatures, wind, and abnormally high snowfall can combine to produce environmental conditions that make adequate care of the beef herd impossible. In such conditions and despite the best effort, producers will often have difficulty carrying out typical management practices and providing adequate nutrition to cows. The end result is that nutrition during gestation may not have been optimal, environmental conditions at calving may be poor, and cows are very stressed. These conditions can lead to several health problems not normally encountered by the beef producer. …

An Emg Analysis Of Five Abdominal Exercises, Teresa E. Brady
Masters Theses
The problem of this study was to compare the basic crunch, Ab Roller Plus, EZ-Krunch, and Resist-A-Ball abdominal exercises. For the Resist-A-Ball, a beginner and advanced abdominal exercise were measured. Subjects performed 5 repetitions of each of the 5 exercises and the 4th repetition of each exercise was analyzed. The dependent variables were peak EMG and time to peak EMG of the rectus abdominis; time spent in the concentric, coupling, and eccentric phases; range of motion for the low back, hip, and trunk; and EMG activity of the vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, vastus medialis, and biceps brachii. The results indicated …

The Relationship Of Training Methods Between Ncaa Division I Cross-Country Runners With 10,000 Meter Performance, Max J. Kurz
The Relationship Of Training Methods Between Ncaa Division I Cross-Country Runners With 10,000 Meter Performance, Max J. Kurz
Student Work
The scientific relationship between 10,000 meter performance and training methods of distance runners remains incompletely understood. Researchers such as Slovic (1977) and Pollock (1978) have attempted to study the relationship between training practices of distance runners with the use of surveys. However, these studies did not analyze the significance of various types of training regimens available. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the training methods of NCAA Division I runners and 10,000 meter performance. Fourteen Division I qualifying teams of the NCAA Division I national cross-country meet and 16 randomly chosen non-qualifying teams were recruited through the mail …

The Influence Of Low Dietary Fat Intake On Incidence And Severity Of Migraine Headache, Zuzana Bic
The Influence Of Low Dietary Fat Intake On Incidence And Severity Of Migraine Headache, Zuzana Bic
Loma Linda University Electronic Theses, Dissertations & Projects
Migraine headaches are a common and debilitating syndrome causing untold suffering and loss of productivity. A review of the literature indicates that there are two primary factors involved in triggering these headaches: high levels of blood lipids and high levels of free fatty acids. Under these conditions platelet aggregability is increased, which is associated with decreases in serotonin and heightened prostaglandins levels. These conditions may produce vasodilation, the most immediate precursor to migraine headache. A high fat diet is one factor that may directly affect this process. This study was undertaken to evaluate the impact of dietary fat intake on …
