Since 1975 a federal law has made the local school district responsible for the education of ALL children living within its geographical boundaries, This law, originally known as the Education of All Handicapped Children Act (PL 94-142), and now known as IDEA or The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, guarantees that children with disabilities will have a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. This free and appropriate public education would afford children with disabilities the opportunity, to the maximum extent possible, to be educated in their neighborhood school alongside their non-disabled peers.

Using data collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we present new measurements of the branching fractions for D+→KSK+and D+ → KSπ+ . These results are combined with other CLEO measurements to extract the ratios of isospin amplitudes and phase shifts for D → KK and D → K π.

A Study To Integrate The History Of Mathematics Into The Geometry Curriculum, Karen M. Laszecki
A Study To Integrate The History Of Mathematics Into The Geometry Curriculum, Karen M. Laszecki
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to integrate the history of mathematics into those topics found in a high school geometry curriculum and to determine the current extent of this integration During the last decade, the History in Mathematics in Education Conference (1990) and the History and Pedagogy of Mathematics Newsletter (1992) are examples of recent efforts to use the history of mathematics as an integral part of the curriculum.
Fifty-one teachers from forty high schools in southeastern Pennsylvania responded to the History of Mathematics in the Classroom questionnaire, which was developed from a review of literature. Geometry teachers rated …
A Study To Determine The Rate Of Participation Of Special Education Students In Extracurricular Activities And Factors Inhibiting Their Participation, Lyn Vetter
Theses and Dissertations
This study compared special education students who join extracurricular activities versus those that do not join, and identified factors that inhibit participation in the various extracurricular activities that are offered. Twenty special education students at the seventh and eighth grade levels enrolled in the Mullica Township Middle School were interviewed individually during their study hall period to determine the extent of their participation in extracurricular activities. Their responses were recorded and analyzed to determine the rate of participation. The groups were then divided into participants and non-participants and responses were content analyzed. Results showed that the majority of the sample …

We present measurements of the phase coherence time τφ in six quasi-1D Au wires and clearly show that τφ is temperature independent at low temperatures. We suggest that zero-point fluctuations of the phase coherent electrons are responsible for the observed saturation of τφ. We introduce a new functional form for the temperature dependence and present the results of a calculation for the saturation value of τφ. This explains the observed temperature dependence of our samples as well as many 1D and 2D systems reported to date.
Screening Measures For Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Heather Foley
Screening Measures For Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Heather Foley
Theses
While performance-based measures have not typically been used by school psychologists in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment, a growing body of evidence suggests that neuropsychological measures may provide valuable diagnostic information as part of a comprehensive evaluation of the disorder. The utility of two neuropsychological measures for use as screening measures in assessing ADHD was examined in the present study. The performance of 29 children with ADHD was compared with that of 96 controls on alternate forms of Trails B and a Figure Cancellation Task. Although a developmental trend was found suggesting increased performance with age, time to complete …

Effects Of Acid Mine Drainage On Stream Fish Assemblages In The North Chickamauga Creek Watershed, Tennessee, Kristie J. Jenkins
Effects Of Acid Mine Drainage On Stream Fish Assemblages In The North Chickamauga Creek Watershed, Tennessee, Kristie J. Jenkins
Honors Theses
Approximately 18 miles of the NCC system, Tennessee is polluted by acid mine drainage (AMD). The effects of AMD upon the North Chickamauga Creek (NCC) system were evaluated from water quality measurements, habitat assessments, and fish collections. Sampling surveys were conducted at three AMO-impacted (pH < 5.5) and two reference sites (pH> 6.2) in the NCC system. Stream fish were collected using backpack electroshockers and hoop nets. A total of seven species were collected at the reference sites, whereas three species were collected at the AMO-impacted sites. Fish abundance was significantly greater (P < 0.1) at the reference sites than at the AMO-impacted sites, regardless of the sampling technique. No fish were collected at one of the AMO-impacted streams where the pH was <5 and the concentration of dissolved aluminum was > 700 mg/L. Results of my study indicate that fish populations were affected more by …

Using A Constant Tie Delay To Teach Measurement To Middle School Students With Learning Disabilities, Emily S. Lovell
Using A Constant Tie Delay To Teach Measurement To Middle School Students With Learning Disabilities, Emily S. Lovell
Theses & Honors Papers
The purpose of this study was to teach the parts of an inch in sixteenths, using a constant time delay procedure. Constant time delay is a virtually effortless, or near errorless, instructional process involving the simultaneous delivery of a target stimulus and a controlling prompt for a limited number of trials, followed by trials where the target stimulus is presented, but the controlling prompt is delayed for a constant time period. The study was conducted with 6 sixth-grade students in a self contained math class for students with learning disabilities. The subject group contained 5 males and 1 female. Each …
A Study To Determine Whether Students Using The Sra Spelling Mastery Program Will Learn To Spell More Words As Compared To Students Utilizing The Graham And Freeman Strategy, Brian Shakespeare
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this thesis was to determine if the use of the SRA Spelling Mastery Program with emotionally disturbed students would increase the amount of words they could spell as compared to similar students who utilized the Graham and Freeman five step study strategy. All the students in the study have been described as having attentional difficulties. After the completion of the placement test, intervention was begun. Intervention consisted of one hundred words selected from the SRA Spelling Mastery Program. Both the SRA and the Graham group had weekly spelling tests consisting of the same ten words. Unit tests …
A Survey Of Attitudes Toward The Proposed New Jersey Special Education Administrative Code Revisions, Michael W. Gasky
A Survey Of Attitudes Toward The Proposed New Jersey Special Education Administrative Code Revisions, Michael W. Gasky
Theses and Dissertations
This study examined the reaction of teachers to five proposals for reforming special education. These proposals include the achievement of the Core Curriculum Content Standards, inclusion of exceptional students in state and districtwide assessments, child study team revisions, classification changes, notice reduction, and the redefining of consent. A fifteen closed-ended question survey with five Likert-type rating scale optional answers was developed. Seventy-three graduate students in education participated in this study. The categorical data was illustrated through charts, graphs, and crossbreak tables. Survey analysis revealed that 52% supported the policy proposals, 35.9% were in opposition, 11.2% indicated no opinion, and 0.9% …
