Does Aggressive Investment In Technology Lower Expenses In The Life Insurance Industry?, Franklin A. Logan Ii
Student Work
By the nature of their business, life insurance firms are conservative in their investments in securities, bonds, and real estate. A life insurance contract can span a century, making the long term survival of the firm imperative. Conservative investments are necessary in this environment and government regulation reinforces this approach.

The Push For Parent Education: Blueprints For Helping Families Cope With Divorce, Andrew Schepard, Peter Salem, Stephen W. Schlissel
Hofstra Law Faculty Scholarship
Why are courts actively creating educational programs for separated and divorcing parents and children? The short answer is that they offer an extremely valuable service: information and perspective. They help parents and children normalize their experiences and begin to understand the emotional, social, and legal complexities of divorce and separation. The objective is not to resolve specific disputes, but to provide parents with information and an incentive to resolve conflicts collaboratively.

Family Law Of The Two Chinas: A Comparative Look At The Rights Of Married Women In The People's Republic Of China And The Republic Of China, Janice A. Lee
Cardozo Journal of International and Comparative Law
The note examines the rights of married women in the People's Republic of China (PRC) and Taiwan, highlighting how traditional Confucian values continue to influence family law and practice despite legal reforms aimed at promoting gender equality. It argues that while both countries have enacted progressive laws, societal attitudes and enforcement mechanisms often undermine these legal advancements, perpetuating women's subordinate status.

Relationship Of Cognitive Style And Theoretical Orientation To Psychology Interns' Preferences For Supervision, Bruce T. Lochner, Timothy Melchert
Relationship Of Cognitive Style And Theoretical Orientation To Psychology Interns' Preferences For Supervision, Bruce T. Lochner, Timothy Melchert
College of Education Faculty Research and Publications
This study (N = 106) investigated the effects of cognitive style and theoretical orientation on psychology interns' judgments about the type of supervision they find most beneficial. Preferences for task-oriented and relationship-oriented supervision have been hypothesized to indicate lower and higher levels of professional development, respectively. This study, however, found that trainees' cognitive styles and the behavioral emphasis of their theoretical orientations were also significantly related to their preferences for these two types of supervisory environments. Individual-difference variables in addition to developmental level may need to figure more prominently in future models of psychotherapist training and supervision.
