Let Me Not To The Marriage Of True Minds Admit Impediments : English Renaissance Marriage Rituals And Shakespeare's Plays, Rana L. Wilson
USF St. Petersburg campus Honors Program Theses (Undergraduate)
In the English Renaissance, many types of marriages existed, and the partners involved in each related to one another differently. This paper concentrates on the marriages of the nobility in the Renaissance. The literature of the era portrayed the formations of marriages and the everyday lives of the couples. Shakespeare's plays provide an ideal framework for looking at this, and chapters two and four discuss how he portrays married couples in his plays.

Current trends in North African francophone literature include a movement towards the exploration of alienation and exile, most often in the form of novels written about Maghrebian immigrants in Europe. Yet this alienation exists within the North African context as well, and it is possible to feel alienated and exiled, as well as marginalized, within one's homeland. This question is explored by Moroccan francophone author Abdelhak Serhane in his novel, Le Soleil des obscurs, which is the focus of this study.
The purpose of the research is to examine the four principle female characters in the novel and relate …

To downsize the profits in illegal drug trafficking and thus strike an economic blow against the drug cartel, President Clinton should declare a week long moratorium on casual drug purchase and use The president recently expressed alarm that drug use among eighth-graders nationwide has increased 150 percent. Given that, this initiative should primarily focus on teenagers and college students.

Honors Projects
Just as a playwright crafts his abstract ideas for a story into a play with his use of concrete language, a costume designer must craft abstract thoughts and images of color, style, and texture into concrete items of clothing. This product helps to give the audience insight into the characters from the moment they first appear on stage. In order to manufacture such a product, the designer must choose a process.

Paper Session I-D - Irradiation: The Effects On Our Food, Chris Greenstein
Paper Session I-D - Irradiation: The Effects On Our Food, Chris Greenstein
Space Congress® Proceedings
A reason for this project is to determine if the irradiation process is an effective means of food preservation.
It is believed that the irradiation process will significantly increase the shelf life of certain foods, (ie: mushrooms, onions, apples, and potatoes). For the following reason this should hold true: The irradiation process kills any bacteria present in the food. Although food contamination can occur at any time, logically, the irradiation process will make the growth of bacteria start over, and therefore delay the decaying of the food.
To determine how much the shelf life of these foods will be improved, …

Paper Session I-B - Novel Microgravity Materials Processing: Case Study Approach, David A. Noever
Space Congress® Proceedings
The substantial US investment at stake in critical space station era technologies includes six broad categories: aerospace, transportation, health care, information, energy and the environment. The breadth of microgravity research addresses each area with current and future experimental programs extending into the space station era. As an example, the 1995 United States Microgravity Laboratory (USML-2) crystallized proteins and infrared imaging components for health care screening and the design of therapeutic treatments, formed chemical catalysts (zeolites) for the energy industry including petroleum refining, and conducted research into semiconductor substrates.
Among the top 10 technologies over the next 10 years—those with the …

Paper Session I-A - The Year 2000 Problem, Ellen P. Prince
Space Congress® Proceedings
It has been called the “Millennium Time Bomb, Doomsday 2000, the Double-Naught Disaster” and a multitude of other catchy titles. A quote from Harris N. Miller, President of the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) states: “The Year 2000 software conversion is arguably the largest and most complex global information management challenge society has ever faced”. What exactly is the Year 2000 problem?
The year 2000 problem stems from the common use of two digit year indicators in many software, hardware and firmware installations, which will cause systems to recognize the ‘00’ in 2000 as 1900 or some other random …

The Prevalence Of Adoption Among Children Diagnosed With Learning Disabilities And Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Karma Jo Roach
The Prevalence Of Adoption Among Children Diagnosed With Learning Disabilities And Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Karma Jo Roach
Theses & Honors Papers
This study investigated the prevalence of adoption among children diagnosed with Learning Disabilities (LD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Parents who were members of the Learning Disabilities Association (LDA) of a mid Atlantic state completed a two-part questionnaire with information about their school aged live-at-home children. A Chi-Square one sample test was used to compute a chi square statistic based on the observed frequency in the study and the expected frequency of adoption in the general population. The Chi-Square value was 75.773 (df=l) with a significance level of .0001. This shows a significantly greater than expected prevalence of adoption …
Correctional Institution Response To Deviant Behavior: An Evaluation Of Correctional Institution Rehabilitation Treatment Programs, Catherine A. Stillman
Correctional Institution Response To Deviant Behavior: An Evaluation Of Correctional Institution Rehabilitation Treatment Programs, Catherine A. Stillman
Theses & Honors Papers
There have been countless studies on criminals, treatment and recidivism, however, there is still no simple solution. The treatment programs at Dillwyn Correctional Center were design and taught by the Correctional Institution Rehabilitation Counselors. These treatment programs were enacted in hopes of aiding the offender in leading a crime free life in the future. Theorist Sutherland and Gillin both submit that it is possible for a convict to be reformed through a process of interaction with the do-gooders of society and a regime of work and education to be reborn as a lawful individual. Therefore, the treatment programs enacted at …
