Community Support Program Staff Attitudes Toward Family Involvement With The Adult Who Has A Serious And Persistent Mental Illness, Timothy W. Himango Jul 1997

Community Support Program Staff Attitudes Toward Family Involvement With The Adult Who Has A Serious And Persistent Mental Illness, Timothy W. Himango

Theses and Graduate Projects

Research has shown that staff of mental health programs will blame family members for problems incurred by an adult member with a serious and persistent mental illness and therefore be excluded from invotvement in the adult's community support plan. Fifteen personal interviews of staff from four community support programs (CSP's) in Minnesota's Hennepin County were conducted, using a combination of a standardized open-ended question interview format and a S-point Likerttype scale. The CSP staff viewed family members as both positive and negative in their influence on the adult with a mental illness. Their decision was influenced by client self-determination, confidentiality, …

Breeding Soundness Examination Of Rams, Clell Bagley Jul 1997

Breeding Soundness Examination Of Rams, Clell Bagley

All Current Publications

The objective of a breeding soundness examination (BSE) of rams is to evaluate and classify their potential breeding ability. This process should include evaluation of their physical condition as well as an evaluation of the semen itself. A BSE does not include an evaluation of sex drive or breeding behavior because there are no standardized criteria by which to judge these. Their best evaluation at present will come from observation of the rams breeding behavior after introduction into the ewe flock.

Environmental Regulation Of Russia's Offshsore Oil & Gas Industry And Its Implications For The International Petroleum Market, Deborah K. Espinosa Jul 1997

Environmental Regulation Of Russia's Offshsore Oil & Gas Industry And Its Implications For The International Petroleum Market, Deborah K. Espinosa

Washington International Law Journal

Due to Northeast Asia's increasing energy demand, the Russian Far East's immense oil and gas reserves, and the close physical proximity between the two regions, international petroleum companies are exploring Russia's offshore petroleum reserves in the Far East. The Russian offshore industry, however, presents foreign investors with many legal uncertainties including exposure to environmental liabilities. This Comment suggests that Russia's environmental regulatory system, which includes a constitutional right to a healthy environment, presents international petroleum companies with a new set of circumstances to which they must adapt if Russian reserves are to satisfy Northeast Asia's rising energy needs. To do …

Patent Term Extension Of Pharmaceuticals In Japan: So You Say You Want To Rush That Generic Drug To Market In Japan . . . Good Luck!, William T. Christiansen Ii

Washington International Law Journal

With the passage of the Drug Price Competition Act of 1984 in the United States, the recent German Supreme Court decision allowing for experimental use of patented pharmaceuticals, and indirectly through the adoption of the Supplemental Protection Certificate in Europe, Japan seems to be the lone large pharmaceutical market which does not allow in some way for the experimental use of patented drugs to gain regulatory approval for a generic equivalent. Japanese generic pharmaceutical manufacturers had, until recently, operated under the assumption that the testing of a generic equivalent to a patented drug to gain regulatory approval was allowable as …

Constitutional Civil Law, Albert Sidney Johnson Jul 1997

Constitutional Civil Law, Albert Sidney Johnson

Mercer Law Review

The 1996 survey period was a reasonably quiet year for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in terms of dramatic developments in civil constitutional law. The most significant labor of the court of appeals was directed toward accommodation of developing law in the United States Supreme Court surrounding the application of evidentiary sufficiency standards to qualified immunity inquiries. The Eleventh Circuit continued its resolve against exercising pendent appellate jurisdiction in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's directive in Swint v. Chamber County Commission. The court of appeals had occasion to consider, in three separate contexts, …

Historical Preservation Districts And Home Sale Prices: Evidence From The Sacramento Housing Market, William E. Herrin, David E. Clark Jul 1997

Historical Preservation Districts And Home Sale Prices: Evidence From The Sacramento Housing Market, William E. Herrin, David E. Clark

School of International Studies Faculty Articles

Historical Preservation Districts and Home Sale Prices: Evidence from the Sacramento Housing Market Abstract: During the past two decades, cities have turned increasingly to historic preservation of residential and commercial property as a method to help revive declining metropolitan areas. Sacramento, California, established historical preservation districts in an attempt to protect and maintain older structures while simultaneously increasing their value. Historic preservation, however, imposes strict rules on property owners that make property improvement more expensive than it otherwise would be. This paper uses hedonic price theory on a sample of residential properties in Sacramento to test whether positive externalities resulting …

Continuing The Downward Spiral For Unions - Carpenters V. Zcon Builders, Jeffery W. Fields Jul 1997

Continuing The Downward Spiral For Unions - Carpenters V. Zcon Builders, Jeffery W. Fields

Journal of Dispute Resolution

Since their inception during the post-war years, collective bargaining agreements have been the primary method used by unions to get employers to deal with issues of importance to their labor force. However, the past few decades have seen a rapid decline in union membership as well as union effectiveness. 3 This casenote will look at whether or not the instant decision, Zcon, will be a contributing factor in the continuing downward spiral for unions.
