Credit Rating State Electricity Board, V Ranganathan, Manoj S Naik

IIMB Management Review

With state electricity boards (SEBs) emerging as leading buyers from independent power producers (IPPs), their credit quality assessment is an important concern for both IPPs and lenders. The electricity boards of Kerala, Karnataka, Ut tar Pradesh, Orissa and Madhya Pradesh have been assessed on two critical dimensions, namely business and financial risks and the moot question as to whether business can be done with SEBs has been raised.

Between 1991 and 1996 Russia underwent a precipitous economic and social decline with decreases in production, gross national product, and wages, and increases in inequality, crime, and corruption. Most people experienced a decline in their standard of living, and many fondly recalled the security and stability of the communist era.

Occupation As Spiritual Activity, Brenda S. Howard, Jay R. Howard

Although spirituality is rarely explicitly mentioned in the occupational therapy literature, it is implied as an interwoven part of the human system. This article explores the meaning of occupation in the context of sociological and Judeo-Christian theological frameworks and the meaning of spirituality in the occupational therapy clinic. A case is made for acknowledging spirituality in clinical reasoning as a centralizing component of the patients' motivation and assignment of meaning to life.

This Article provides an overview of United States privacy status and regulations governing privacy issues and recent European privacy initiatives. The author explores how, in the absence of an overarching regulatory framework, steps have been taken by government and industry to address consumers concerns about privacy and the Internet.

Jewish Legal Theory And American Constitutional Theory: Some Comparisons And Contrasts, Samuel J. Levine

UC Law Constitutional Quarterly

In recent years, American legal scholars have relied increasingly on Jewish law. Scholars have employed concepts from Jewish law in the analysis of health law, criminal law, legal ethics, legal interpretation, and constitutional law. Despite this trend, legal scholars continue to debate the value and validity of applying Jewish legal principles to American legal theory. This Article explores some of the ways in which Jewish law may shed light on issues in American constitutional theory. While acknowledging that there are fundamental differences between a religious legal system and a secular one, this Article argues that certain conceptual similarities between American …
