Operationally Ready Vs Gym Ready: Training For The Real Demands Of Tactical Work, Ben Jacobs
Operationally Ready Vs Gym Ready: Training For The Real Demands Of Tactical Work, Ben Jacobs
Tactical & Occupational Performance Conference
Tactical organizations are increasingly recognizing that readiness extends beyond fitness alone. Structured performance systems that integrate training, recovery, nutrition, and fatigue management can help departments improve resilience, reduce injuries, and sustain operational capability over an entire career.
Session's revolve around the concept of Tactical Readiness Architecture, a systems-based framework designed to help departments build structured, sustainable performance support for their personnel. Rather than focusing solely on workouts or individual habits, Tactical Readiness Architecture integrates training, recovery, nutrition, fatigue management, and data-informed monitoring into a cohesive readiness model.

Developmental Disabilities Network Journal
Adults with intellectual disability (ID) are living longer and increasingly outlive family caregivers. Strengthening independent living and vocational skills has therefore become a critical public-health priority. Occupational therapy (OT) can address this need through person-centered, community-based programming. This paper describes the co-design, delivery, and preliminary outcomes of a short occupation-based curriculum intended to enhance autonomy and work readiness in aging adults with ID. In partnership with a Dallas, Texas nonprofit, the authors conducted a needs assessment and created an 8-session course rooted in the Independent Living Model and the Occupational Competence Model. The curriculum addressed four domains (physical health, financial …

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Neurological disorders in captive wild felids presents diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, particularly in juveniles animals maintained under suboptimal nutritional transitions. This case report describes the synergistic effects of dietary deficiencies and a concurrent hemoparasitic infection in a seven-month-old male African lion cub (Panthera leo) weighing 30 kg, housed at Audu Bako Zoological Garden in Kano, Nigeria. Following premature weaning onto an unsupplemented muscle-meat diet, the cub exhibited progressive neurological symptoms, including ataxia, hindlimb paresis, star-gazing, and opisthotonos. Hematological analysis revealed a mild normocytic, normochromic anemia (packed cell volume; 23%) and the presence of erythrocytes rouleaux formation, while Giemsa-stained …

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
This study aimed to evaluate the effects of acepromazine on intraocular pressure (IOP), anterior chamber depth (ACD), cardiovascular and respiratory rates in horses. In a prospective, randomized, controlled trial, twelve horses were equally allocated randomly into two groups: treatment and control (n = 6 each). Horses of the treatment group received 0.1 mg/kg body weight (bwt) of acepromazine intravenously, while those in the control group received 0.4 mL/100 kg bwt of 0.9% sodium chloride intravenously. IOP, ACD, heart rate, and respiratory rate were recorded before (T0) and then at T10, T20, T30, T40, T50, T60, T70, T80, and T120 min …

Twenty-First-Century Readiness Of Thai Doctor Of Veterinary Medicine Curricula: A Documentary Analysis Using The Competency-Based Veterinary Education 2.0 Framework, Pongphol Pongthaisong, Manakant Intrakamhaeng
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
Twenty-first-century veterinary practice demands graduates who combine clinical expertise with professional competencies including communication, financial literacy, evidence-based practice, and One Health awareness. Whether Thai Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) curricula systematically develop these competencies has not been evaluated across the full national cohort. This study assessed the 21st-century readiness of all 11 accredited Thai DVM programs using the Competency-Based Veterinary Education 2.0 (CBVE 2.0) framework (AAVMC Council, 2024). Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) and course specifications from Thai Qualifications Framework curriculum specification documents (TQF-2; มคอ.2) were analyzed using deductive content analysis against all 9 CBVE 2.0 domains, with inter-rater reliability established …
Opt-In Comparison Of A Consumer-Wearable Biometric Against A General-Population And A Self-Reported Disease-Cohort Distribution, Computed Without Raw Data Leaving The Device, Under Composed On-Device Local Differential Privacy, Secure Cross-Device Aggregation, Streaming (W-Event) Privacy Budgeting, And Minimum-Cohort Small-Cell Gating, Gerard Ziemski
Defensive Publications Series
Consumer health wearables increasingly let a user see how a personal biometric (resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, cardiorespiratory fitness, respiratory rate, blood-oxygen saturation, sleep duration) compares to a population. This disclosure describes a method by which a user opts in to such a comparison and is shown two distributions — one for a general population and one for a self-reported disease cohort (paradigmatically Parkinson's disease), each optionally filtered by sex and age band — without any raw, identifiable health value ever leaving the user's device. The novelty is not in any single component, all of which are established prior art …
Per-Session Sleep Onset Latency As A Two-Tailed Self-Tracking Signal In Parkinson's Disease, Measured Across Nights And Naps Over A Staging-Independent In-Bed Window, Gerard Ziemski
Defensive Publications Series
A companion family of disclosures analyzes consumer-wearable sleep over a staging-independent in-bed window — robust overnight heart-rate variability, the same per session including naps, and the inverse movement-active "burden" read — by windowing on time-in-bed rather than the device's movement-based sleep/wake labels. None of them measures how long it takes to fall asleep. This disclosure adds sleep onset latency (SOL) to that family: per session — every night and every nap — SOL is computed as the offset from a sleep-intent anchor (the start of the in-bed window, optionally tightened by secondary cues) to the first sustained sleep onset detected …
Decarbonization Of The Maritime Industry And Suggested Training Of Seafarer Officers, Malusa Alana De Assumpção, Ove Tobias Gudmestad, Freerk Meyer
Decarbonization Of The Maritime Industry And Suggested Training Of Seafarer Officers, Malusa Alana De Assumpção, Ove Tobias Gudmestad, Freerk Meyer
Seatific Journal
The IMO set ambitious environmental requirements regarding greenhouse gas emissions from international shipping. These requirements were accompanied by regulatory instruments and several proposals for technological solutions. While seafarers are not involved in selecting these technologies, they are responsible for their operation once they are installed onboard. Proper training is essential to ensure safe operations and compliance with emissions requirements. This study aims to understand the regulatory instruments regarding limiting GHG emissions from international shipping and the technological solutions that could help the maritime sector reach the IMO's ambition. These instruments and solutions are discussed, and the authors thereafter suggest the …

Post-Machine | You Vs. The Algorithm: A Creative Act Of Rebellion, Matthew Schultz
Post-Machine | You Vs. The Algorithm: A Creative Act Of Rebellion, Matthew Schultz
Masters Theses
Algorithms have become intertwined with everyday life, infiltrating both personal and social environments. They have transformed from influenceable tools useful for customizing information to machines of influence that are now dictating standards. These machines have begun morphing individuals idea of the self. This has become an epidemic of lost identity and fragmented self in order to conform to algorithmic acceptance. Emerging professionals in creative fields in the last decade have become particularly susceptible to this influence. If not addressed, young creatives will soon lose any autonomy of self and have a homogenized identity that matches the demands of the algorithm …

From Doctoral Research To Local Development: Education, Sustainability And Research Impact In Turmalina-Mg, Brazil, Ozeias Rodrigues Da Rocha
From Doctoral Research To Local Development: Education, Sustainability And Research Impact In Turmalina-Mg, Brazil, Ozeias Rodrigues Da Rocha
Critical Letters in Economics & Finance
This paper examines how doctoral research can generate impact in marginalised contexts through a qualitative case study conducted in Turmalina-MG, Brazil. The study explored the relationship between education and sustainable economic development through fieldwork across 13 primary schools and engagement with teachers, school leadership, and municipal decision-makers. Rather than treating education only as a sectoral policy issue, the research framed it as a long-term development mechanism linked to human capability, local resilience, and future economic opportunity. The paper argues that the impact of doctoral research in this case became visible in four main ways: through the generation of structured local …
