Absolute Triply Differential (E,2E) Cross Section Measurements For H With Comparison To Theory, J. Roder, H. Erhardt, Cheng Pan, Anthony F. Starace, Igor Bray, Dmitry V. Fursa
Anthony F. Starace Publications
Absolute triply differential (e,2e) cross section measurements are presented for H (for incident energies, E0, of 15.6 and 17.6 eV) for equal energy sharing and the θ12 = π configuration. Results of distorted partial wave calculations agree with the measurements; those of convergent close coupling calculations agree with the relative angular distributions, but are lower than experiment by factors of from 2 to 7. Relative experimental results for H for E0 = 14.6 eV show a qualitative change in shape, which agrees with theory. Implications of the absolute experimental results for the …

Effect Of Annual Shearing On Growth Of Five High Desert Shrubs, Larry Rupp, Roger Kjelgren, Jerriann Ernstsen, William Varga
Plants, Soils, and Climate Faculty Publications
We investigated growth of native Intermountain West shrub species sheared yearly. Five shrub species with potential for use in naturalized landscapes and roadslide reclamation, silver sage (Artemesia cana), rabbitbrush (Chrysothamnus nauseosus), red-stem dogwood Cornus sericea), chokecherry Prunus virginiana), and curlleaf mountain mahogany (Cercocarpus ledifolius), were planted as seedlings in summer 1989. From 1991-1993, half of the plants were sheard to within 1.15 m (0.5 ft) of the ground every spring prior to or at budbreak. Crown height and crown cross-sectional area were measured every year prior to pruning. significant shearing effects were detected in some shrubs the first year after …

Nebraska's Economy Keeps On Humming, Charles Lamphear
Business in Nebraska
Second quarter (April-June) 1997 business conditions survey results indicate that the state's economy continues to expand at a healthy pace with no evidence of a slowdown. Substantial numbers of the reporting businesses continue to indicate gains in operating revenues. Only 21 percent reported a decrease in 2nd quarter earnings over 1st quarter earnings. Only 25 percent reported a decrease in 2nd quarter 1997 earnings over 2nd quarter 1996 earnings.
Creation of new jobs across the state continues to grow at a nearly constant rate. At the state level, the survey shows that new job growth is …

Electron Transfer Across A Peptide−Peptide Interface Within A Designed Metalloprotein, Gennady V. Kozlov, Michael Y. Ogawa
Electron Transfer Across A Peptide−Peptide Interface Within A Designed Metalloprotein, Gennady V. Kozlov, Michael Y. Ogawa
Chemistry Faculty Publications
Mechanistic studies of biological electron-transfer (ET) reactions have involved the use of surface-derivatized proteins, protein−protein complexes, and polypeptide-bridged donor−acceptor compounds. These latter studies seek to use well-defined model systems to better define the role of the intervening protein matrix in mediating biological electron transfers. However, whereas many in vivo ET reactions occur across a noncovalent protein−protein interface, the primary role of the peptide spacers found in current model systems is to provide a covalent link between the donor and acceptor sites. As such, these systems are poorly suited to probe the mechanisms of ET reactions occurring across a peptide−peptide interface.
