Procedural Due Process For Texas Public School Students Receiving Disciplinary Transfers To Alternative Education Programs, Patty Blackburn Tillman Oct 1996

Procedural Due Process For Texas Public School Students Receiving Disciplinary Transfers To Alternative Education Programs, Patty Blackburn Tillman

Texas Wesleyan Law Review

Nevares v. San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District" is the first Texas case to challenge whether disciplinary transfers of public school students without notice and a hearing are unconstitutional, because they deny students procedural due process. This article will explore whether Texas public school students accused of committing felony offenses while off campus should be afforded the procedural due process protections of notice and hearing prior to their disciplinary transfer to alternative education programs.

Raman Spectroscopy Of Carbon Materials, John R. Dennison, M. Holtz, G. Swain Oct 1996

Raman Spectroscopy Of Carbon Materials, John R. Dennison, M. Holtz, G. Swain

All Physics Faculty Publications

Use of carbon materials is no longer limited to diamond jewelry or graphite pencils and lubricants. The last decade has witnessed an explosion of technological applications driven by the development of fabrication methods and the discovery of several new classes of pure carbon. Structural diversity exhibited by the carbon atoms, from local chemical order to long-range crystalline order, is key to understanding their physical and chemical properties and in future materials development. This article summarizes the use of Raman spectroscopy as a principal tool to investigate the vibrational dynamics of carbon materials and to provide indirect structural characterization of their …

School Students And Part-Time Work, Lyn Robinson Oct 1996

School Students And Part-Time Work, Lyn Robinson

LSAY Research Reports

This report is about student-workers. The youthful part-time workers encountered in supermarket delicatessens, hot bread shops and fast food stores throughout Australia in the 1990s are very likely to also be full-time secondary school students. Over the past two to three decades, the increasing number of students who combine study at school with part-time employment outside of school hours has been widely observed, although estimates of how many school students have jobs vary greatly. Furthermore, while the trend has been well recognised, its implications have frequently been overlooked. Consideration of the student-worker phenomenon gives rise to a number of questions …

Accounting Historians Notebook

The Academy sponsored a "Silent Auction" of books at the December conference in Cleveland. The purpose of the auction is to provide members and registrants at the conference the opportunity to obtain classic or out-of-print books and publications at a price likely to be below used book dealer prices. Jeanette Sanfilippo has announced that donated materials such as trade books, business, or economics were greatly appreciated.
