This literature review describes and analyzes the use of CD-ROM in K-12 schools in particular areas. One area of interest was in how the CD .. ROM storybooks foster learning, especially in the area of language arts. Data was gathered through journal articles and case studies. The literature is divided into three categories. 1 . Advantages and disadvantages of CD-ROM in the K .. 12 setting. 2. Results of a survey of secondary media specialists, who used CD-ROM for reference, in Maine and Pennsylvania. 3. This diversity is recognized by hospital accreditation agencies and described by a consensus of radiologic technology educators. It places upon Iowa's radiologic student a responsibility to be better prepared for increased multicultural patient interactions. The purpose of this study was to describe the perception of directors of youth-serving agencies on what prevention and intervention programs have been implemented by youth-serving agencies in eastern Iowa. Directors of youth-serving agencies in the following cities in Iowa answered the questionnaire (Gang Program Assessment Questionnaire): Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Davenport, Iowa City, Coralville, Adel, Ankeny, Bondurant, Indianola, Johnston, Knoxville, Nevada, Newton, Pella, Pleasant Hill, Ames, Des Moines, Makquoketa, and Urbandale.

No matter how hard they try, some constitutional theorists can't avoid being, at bottom, either democratic-foundationalists ("democrats") or rights-foundationalists. In the first part of this essay, I will offer a third way, insisting that at the heart of the American constitutional order is an irreconcilable conflict between these divergent accounts, that attempts to predicate constitutionalism on either democracy or rights cannot succeed. Martin Buber describes the question of how to "affirm" our Jewish identity in the modem world as "the personal Jewish question, the root of all Jewish questions, the question we must discover within ourselves, clarify within ourselves, and decide within ourselves. This essay raises the "Jewish question" for lawyers. First, it explores some reasons why Jewish lawyers answer the question by separating their professional selves from their religious selves. This Article’s purpose is to portray recent changes in the United States Supreme Court’s habeas corpus jurisprudence—limiting the scope of the federal writ while reducing the federal judiciary’s role overseeing the criminal justice systems. Seemingly, the Court gave little thought to whether this reduction in federal oversight should be accompanied by a greater measure of review on the part of state courts. The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA) prohibits hospitals from inappropriately transferring or refusing medical care to persons with emergency medical conditions. EMTALA was passed in response to the practice of “dumping” seriously ill patients from private hospitals into public ones, to ensure all patients receive medical treatment in emergency situations. Plaintiffs have attempted to pursue EMTALA claims against non-hospital defendants, but courts have consistently disallowed such claims under the statute. By limiting the scope of its coverage to hospitals, EMTALA creates a situation unique from ordinary medical malpractice. Although hospitals may be held liable for negligent credentialing …

Millions of people are working for a living but not receiving a living wage in return for their work. The value of the minimum wage continues to erode, with the Congressional Research Service estimating the minimum wage would have to rise to $6.75 per hour in 1996 to equal the purchasing power it represented in 1978. It is not in the common interest, nor in the interest of justice, for people to work full-time, yet remain mired in poverty. The purpose of the present study was to determine the prevalence of cardiac arrhythmias and ischemic electrocardiographic changes during monitored Phase II Cardiovascular Rehabilitation sessions in patients at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics (UIHC). A secondary purpose of this study was to determine if the identified arrhythmias and ischemic electrocardiographic changes documented during monitored exercise sessions had occurred in the patients prior medical history. The purpose of this project was to develop a series of classes for young parents that will help them understand their children's emerging literacy and their role in nurturing their children's language abilities. The participants in this project were students from an alternative high school's child development class. The three class sessions presented to the students established that literacy emerges early in children's lives, confirmed that parents can have a positive effect on their children's literacy, and encouraged these students to offer literacy activities to their children.
