The constituents of non-verbal communication are identified.
The second chapter reviews literature on the subject of general social stratification. In order to present a concise look at …

An Interventional Approach To Managing Psychological Stress In The American Workplace, Shirley A. White

Correlations Of Income Level And Employee Tradeoff Preference Between Wages And Fringe Benefits, Perry G. Hirtz
Theses
This thesis seeks to determine if a relationship exits between income level and employee preferences for various benefits as measured against a form of wage trade- off value utilizing Maslow's theory of hierarchy of needs as a basis.
The ever increasing cost of providing benefits makes it important for organizations to formulate benefit packages that maximize their value to employees as part of the overall compensation package . Research which adds to the understanding of how benefits are valued by employees can aid in the formulation of successful and efficient compensation structures.

The Role Of Heritage Attractions In Sustainable Tourism Strategies: The Experience In Ireland, Sean Browne, Terry Stevens
The Role Of Heritage Attractions In Sustainable Tourism Strategies: The Experience In Ireland, Sean Browne, Terry Stevens
Visions in Leisure and Business
Ireland, located on the north-west periphery of Europe, illustrates all the difficulties of a small, marginalised, island economy. It is an ancient landscape rich in heritage and cultural features. Tourism is now a vital part of the Irish economy. Recent research has demonstrated that the distinctive "Irishness", whilst difficult to define, is the major appeal for overseas markets. In 1989 the Irish Government challenged Bord Failte (the Irish Tourist Board) to double revenue from overseas tourists and create 25,000 new jobs. Heritage attractions, formed a fundamental feature of Bord Failte's Framework Plan for Tourism. The methodology adopted for heritage attraction …

Service Learning Teacher Training Manual, Scott Richardson
Service Learning Teacher Training Manual, Scott Richardson
Guides
This is a guide for trainers who view service learning as a teaching strategy to improve instruction. The guide assumes that the participants in the training are teachers who will use service learning to help their students achieve the objectives of the school curriculum. Some of the training sessions, such as reflection and defining service learning, may be useful for non-school-based programs as well. The bulk of the guide, however, is shaped by our belief that service learning is good education. We view service learning as an experiential teaching strategy with an ultimate aim of promoting student understanding of established …

Trace Metal Accumulation In Houston And Galveston Area Aquatic Biota As A F Actor Of Their Environment., Fraline Judith Castillo, B. S
Theses (Pre-2016)
Trace metal concentration in natural waters depends on the location of the water site. Studies have shown that water sites that are closer to industrial waste dumping sites, agricultural farms, heavily populated areas and construction sites have a higher concentration of trace metals (1, 2). Aquatic organisms in these areas will also have a higher concentration of these metals (1, 2). The Concentration of lead, zinc and cadmium in water from sites in the urban areas will be lower than that in waters from rural areas (1,2). The purpose of this study is to determine the concentrations oftrace metals in …

We Can't Be The Women We Were Before: Mary Livermore And Chicago Women In The American Civil War, Nancy Arlene Driscol Engle
Retrospective Theses and Dissertations
This study examines the impact of the American Civil War on Union women by focusing on Mary Ashton Rice Livermore and her associates in wartime aid societies in Chicago, Illinois. It argues that Livermore's postwar lecture career epitomizes the new confidence that many benevolent women possessed after the Civil War. From contemporary newspaper accounts and letters it demonstrates that the conflagration broadened the scope of their activity, allowing many to hone their skills and expand their influence while remaining safely inside society's accepted gender standards. concluding that the war changed moderate white middle-class women's lives, it then illustrates that some …
Effects Of Loneliness, Years Of Service, And Spiritual Well-Being Upon Burn-Out Among Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Clergy, David L. Prout
Effects Of Loneliness, Years Of Service, And Spiritual Well-Being Upon Burn-Out Among Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Clergy, David L. Prout
Doctor of Psychology (PsyD)
Past research had concluded that a combination of individual and situational factors interact as causes for burn-out in ministers. This present study sought to measure three factors, loneliness, years of service, and spiritual well-being for their singular and combined impact upon burn-out among Christian pastors. Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod pastors, 276 in number, were surveyed to determine their level of burn-out, together with measure of the afore-mentioned variables. It was expected that fewer years of service, lower spiritual well-being, and higher loneliness would effect increased levels of measured burn-out in the pastors surveyed. A three-way analysis of variance indicated that burn-out …
