The Soul Of The Firm As It Moves To The 21st Century, C. William Pollard

C. William Pollard Papers

In an address delivered at the 50th Annual Indiana University Business Conference (Indianapolis, IN), Pollard contends that the "soul" of any corporate firm is its people. In light of this, he goes on to argue that corporate success depends upon managers who commit themselves to a vision of leadership defined by service to both employees and customers.

Regenerating Synovial Lining Of The Normal Rabbit Knee: A Scanning Electron Microscopy Study, Haim Stein, Daniel Levanon Mar 1996

Regenerating Synovial Lining Of The Normal Rabbit Knee: A Scanning Electron Microscopy Study, Haim Stein, Daniel Levanon

Scanning Microscopy

Regeneration of the synovial lining in the synovectomized rabbit knee was studied using the scanning electron microscope. The resected synovia regenerated considerably 3 weeks after synovectomy. However, 44 weeks following excision, their surface morphology was still very different from that of the normal tissue of intact animals. The regenerated synovia were characterized by three main features: the large number of various patterns, the many fields harboring fibrillation and the almost total lack of a bubble layer (the latter was formerly shown to be predominant on normal, intact synovia). The surface morphology of the non-operated (contralateral) knee differed greatly from that …

Ya'll Cain't Do That Here: Will Texas Recognize Same-Sex Marriages Validly Contracted In Other States?, Sondrea Joy King

Texas Wesleyan Law Review

This comment examines the current mechanism for analyzing the issue of whether same-sex marriages celebrated in another jurisdiction will be recognized in Texas and suggests several areas the Texas Legislature should review to give certainty and consistency to any such decision. Part I reviews the Hawaiian case of Baehr v. Lewin and other cases challenging opposite-sex marriage statutes, and outlines the public policy reasons historically offered to avoid recognizing same-sex unions. Part II examines the Texas choice-of-law doctrine as it relates to validity of marriages contracted in other states, and discusses Texas public policy regarding same-sex unions and whether Texas …

Archeological Investigations For Fort Stabilization And Restoration, For Mckavett State Historical Park, Menard County, Texas: 1978-1990 Seasons, Amy C. Earls, John Leffler

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State

The U.S. Army occupations at Fort McKavett from 1853 until 1859 and from 1868 until 1883 were part of Texas's frontier defense. During the Civil War and from 1883 until the present, civilians have inhabited and used the fort buildings, creating the small town of Fort McKavett. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department developed part of the town as a state historical park, restoring this property to its appearance during the second military occupation. Archeological investigations at the park between 1978 and 1990 focused on recovering architectural data and artifacts to support restoration, stabilization, and interpretation of the military occupations. …
