In this paper, it is shown that two random matrices have a joint matrix variate distribution if conditioning each one on the other the resulting distributions satisfy certain conditions. A general result involving more than two matrices is also proved.

Index of Texas Archaeology: Open Access Gray Literature from the Lone Star State
In May 1989 through July 1989, archeological and geomorphological investigations were conducted at five prehistoric archeological sites impacted by drainage ditch construction in Hidalgo and Willacy counties. These investigations were sponsored by Hidalgo County Drainage District No. I and Willacy County Drainage District No. I as part of a continuing program of cultural resources studies along the drainage ditch construction right-of-way. One site, 41WYI40, is situated on a low rise adjacent to a main channel of the ditch and lacks sufficient Holocene sediments to contain archeological materials in good context. Fitting Semantics For Conditional Term Rewriting, Chilukuri K. Mohan
Electrical Engineering and Computer Science - Technical Reports
This paper investigates the semantics of conditional term rewriting systems with negation which do not satisfy useful properties like termination. It is shown that the approach used by Fitting [5] for Prolog-style logic programs is applicable in this context. A monotone operator is developed, whose fixpoints describe the semantics of conditional rewriting. Several examples illustrate this semantics for non-terminating rewrite systems which could not be easily handled by previous approaches.

A Test Of A Mastery Learning Approach For Teaching Basic Paragraph Writing Skills To Spanish Language Background Students, Sara Soledad Garcia

This dissertation tested whether learning could be improved for students of Spanish language background through a Mastery Learning (ML) approach. It was hypothesized that higher levels of achievement and more positive affect could occur in an ML classroom.
Phase I of the study compared two instructional conditions: Mastery Learning and conventional. Because of implementation problems in Phase I, Phase II used a Mastery Learning condition only. In each phase, Pre and Posttests, Formative and Summative Tests, and Affect Questionnaires were gathered from a total of 84 students. A Training Module For The Integration Of Text, Scanned Graphics, And Computer-Generated Artwork Into A Page Layout Program On A Macintosh Design System, Linda A. Jackson

The purpose of this study is to develop a training module for integrating text, artwork, and graphics into a page layout program. Currently, the information for successful integration must be referenced from several sources. By having the key elements of integration in one volume, users attempting to layout and/or design a publication using these programs will be able to proceed quickly with fewer technical problems. Rapid growth is predicted for computer-based tools in graphic design studios, advertising agencies, and magazines which normally use computer design stations. These computer design stations require proper training to be used cost effectively. Consequently, training …
