Casing head gasoline obtained from natural gas yields five commercial products. One of these is a mixture of amyl alcohols. As treated by the Sharples Company, West Virginia, pentane is separated and treated with chlorine. Three chlorine derivatives are produced. These are treated with caustic soda and may f'orm eight possible amyl· aloohols~1 The products of the normal pentane, only, are the subject matter of this thesis.

During the past two decades, substantial advances have been made toward the understanding of various phases of heat regulation. Many threads leading to the explanation of the complete mechanism of heat regulation of the body have been unraveled. The purpose of this study is twofold; (1) to discover what information has been found useful regarding electricity and the construction of the many common electrical appliances that are found today in the majority of homes; (2) to determine what items would probably be most valuable in a course in electricity. A check list technique was used in this study to obtain information from boys, girls, and parents concerning the knowledge of electricity which they had found useful. The data were secured from four hundred eighty nine unselected individuals.

"A cooperative bull association", according to the United States Department of Agri culture, is "a farmers' organization formed for the purpose of joint ownership, use, and exchange of high class, purebred dairy bulls."

The members of the association are divided into three or more groups of neighboring farmers, each group being known as a block. A block may consist of one herd or several herds and contains from 40 to 60 cows. Perennial weeds have retarded agricultural progress, since their first appearance in cultivated fields. They have grown and survived the destructive efforts of the farmer and agricultural scientist, over a great period of time. Many farmers have become discouraged and much valuable land has lain idle because of this wasteful weed persistence.

These dismal consequences have stimulated constant effort at experimental stations to discover more effective methods of battling the pest. The use of chemicals has been one of the most prominent weapons and, of the most recent chemicals tried, the chlorates are the most promising.
