Lubricating engineers have found viscosity to be the most important property of a good lubricant, though up to the present time no one has succeeded in deducing a satisfactory expression by which the viscosity of a blended lubricant may be calculated from a knowledge of the physical properties of its components. "In the main ore bodies of the Southeast Missouri Lead Belt the lead occurs as galena disseminated in dolomite. The concentration in the mills is by tabling and flotation. The grade of the concentrates and the recovery of the galena are excellent. However, in certain areas of some of the mines ore has been developed that does not concentrate so readily. Because of its reddish brown color this ore is known locally as "red ore", and the presence of oxidized lead has been suspected. "Carnotite ore is a source of radium and it is the recovery of this element which is chiefly sought in its treatment. The radium results from the radioactive disintegration of uranium which is one of the constituents of the yellow mineral carnotite. The ores are largely low grade. Higher grade pockets occur scattered in the deposits and because of their irregular occurrence are not easily located. The larger low grade deposits which are more easily accessible contain considerable quantities of calcium carbonate and oxide minerals. The author's aim in this thesis, has been to trace the history of Oldham County through a period of about sixty years, noting the various changes in its economic life. The present stock farming and wheat culture era was preceded by several decades of ranching, which in turn was antedated by the Indian period. Historians in the future, will tell the story of the breaking up of the large farms and ranches into smaller units to provide farms for our increasing population.

Since the findings of the Classical Investigation have been reported, makers of Elementary Latin Textbooks have, among other things, stressed basal Latin vocabulary and English words derived therefrom. As a means of achieving a mastery of a larger vocabulary, they often advise the teacher to require pupils to make and keep a vocabulary notebook. Particularly this is advised in the Ullman-Henry Elementary Latin texts which the writer has used for the past six years. Upon submitting to the publishers of the Ullman-Henry texts, the vocabulary notebook which he had developed in teaching these texts, the writer received the comment that …

Although much has been written in criticism of the policy pursued by the United States government in its relation with the Navajo Indians, no investigations have yet been made to determine the nature and development of this policy. The writer chose the subject of this thesis with the hope that she might discover evidence that would make it possible to answer these questions; having lived in close contact and association with the Navajos during her entire life she naturally feels a personal interest in their problems and welfare.
