Some Practical Methods Of Teaching Fifth Grade Geography, Labertha Perry Jordan Aug 1934

Some Practical Methods Of Teaching Fifth Grade Geography, Labertha Perry Jordan

All Theses

Not more than a generation ago, the teaching of geography was all too frequently a mere practice of making pupils learn the textbook, in which had been assembled certain facts without much thought of their social value. Today, we demand that every unit of subject matter shall meet a definite social need. This critical attitude has produced radical changes in the content of the course In geography, as well as in methods of teaching. In geography, for instance, the aim of the conservative school, with its subject-matter curriculum, was to make certain that the pupils had mastered and stored up …

Some Factors Involved In The Manufacture Of Brick Cheese, George F. Jackson Aug 1934

Some Factors Involved In The Manufacture Of Brick Cheese, George F. Jackson

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The flavor, quality and composition of market brick cheese varies greatly. Its moisture content often ranges from 37 to 43 per cent. The flavor may be similar to Limburger or it may even resemble that of Cheddar. Such a great variation in a specific food product tends toward disappointment for the consumer.

It is believed that a more uniform standard of quality for this product is needed to materially increase its consumption. Therefore, a detailed study of some of the factors involved in the manufacture of brick cheese may help to improve the quality and aid in determining a satisfactory …

Track And Field Sport Past And Present, J. Arthur Miles

Bachelors’ Theses

This is a brief account of the last half-century’s history and. development of track and field athletics in the United States. In a survey of this sort it is extremely difficult to give a detailed description of this phase of athletics mainly because it is only in the last fifty years that this sport has gained a foot-hold in America and information on the development of track in this country is meager.

A Comparison Of Persistent Errors In Written And Spoken English Of A Number Of Seventh And Eighth Grade Pupils Of Douglas School, Greenville, Texas, Mary Jim Morris

All Theses

This report has been prepared to determine or bring out the relationship of oral and written English.

This report will try to find out whether a pupil who makes a great number of errors in speaking does the same in his writing.

The main reason for studying this problem is the prevalence of serious grammatical errors made in both writing and speaking. A child learns to speak before he learns to write. He gets his speech from those about him. It is possible that speech makes a deep impression on written English. If this is true, we want t o …

Part one is a general review of the activities of the Rahway Valley Joint Meeting, both prior to and after the completion of the trunk sewer. The second portion reveals some of the intricate problems evolving in …
