The Geology Of Lost Creek Canyon With Special Reference To Igneous Activity, John Kolesar
The Geology Of Lost Creek Canyon With Special Reference To Igneous Activity, John Kolesar
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
This investigation was undertaken primarily as a problem in geologic mapping, coupled with a study of stratigraphy, glaciation, igneous phenomena, and structure. The area is admirably suited to a study of geology and geologic events. Because it is small in extent, the area was studied in some detail during the time which was devoted to field work. The record of igneous activity of past geological ages is remarkably well exposed, since Lost Creek Canyon was carved through the roof of a stock or batholith by the glaciers of the Pleistocene epoch.
Occurrence And Origin Of Placer Gold In Montana, John K. Halse
Occurrence And Origin Of Placer Gold In Montana, John K. Halse
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
From time immemorial man has used gold as a medium of exchange, a measure of value, as jewelry and for ornamentation. Placer gold has led directly or indirectly to the settlement of lands, California and Alaska being the two best known examples. It has led the way to the discovery of other important mineral wealth, the discovery of the copper and silver deposits at Butte, Montana and the discovery of the silver deposits at Cripple Creek, Colorado being two good examples.
A Preliminary Study Of The Ostracoda Of The Big Snowy Group, Mississippian, Of Montana., John C. Rabbitt
A Preliminary Study Of The Ostracoda Of The Big Snowy Group, Mississippian, Of Montana., John C. Rabbitt
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
In the field, samples were taken vertically and horizontally along the various outcrops in different sections of central and south-central Montana. At important localities the samples were taken about every half-foot vertically; in other sections they were taken every few feet.
An Investigation Of The Properties Of Some Of The White Metal Alloys, William James Walsh Jr.
An Investigation Of The Properties Of Some Of The White Metal Alloys, William James Walsh Jr.
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
Although there is no standardized list of alloys, most investigators have, to avoid confusion, concurred in at least grouping the metals under several general heads. Precious metals: gold, silver and the platinum group; the light metals: aluminum and magnesium; the non-ferrous metals (excluding all steels and iron-base alloys); and the antifriction metals.
Siliceous Sponge Spicules Of The Quadrant Formation From Montana., Lester Zeihen
Siliceous Sponge Spicules Of The Quadrant Formation From Montana., Lester Zeihen
Bachelors Theses and Reports, 1928 - 1970
A sponge spicule is a siliceous or calcareous individual or group of rays which form a framework for the sponge. Sponge spicules are very delicate and easily broken. The methods used in obtaining micro-fossils vary considerably with the type of material from which they are to be recovered and the frailness of the fossil obtained.
A Preliminary Survey Of Some Of The More Important Insects Of The Cache National Forest, Theodore O. Thatcher
A Preliminary Survey Of Some Of The More Important Insects Of The Cache National Forest, Theodore O. Thatcher
Biology
Studies of forest insects in America have been, in the past, principally undertaken only in cases of serious outbreaks, and little or no attention has been paid to determinations of the presence of potential pests. Especially is this true of the western United States where forest conservation has received practically no consideration other than fire control and attacks upon serious pest outbreaks, However, of late years it has taken a more important position in public planning with the Civilian Conservation Corps being utilized in reforestation and insect control programs throughout the nation. Little effort has been made to study the …

The Effects Of Electric Currents On Mitochondria In - Rat Liver -, Chiles Washington
The Effects Of Electric Currents On Mitochondria In - Rat Liver -, Chiles Washington
All Theses
The question of the existence of true structures, known as mitochondria in the cytoplasm of the cells is one that has engaged the attention of Histologist's and cytologist's for the past fifty years. Many of the granules now designated by this name were described as "Microsomes", by Hanstein (80). La Valette St. George (86) in his investigations called these granules "cytomicrosomes". Hacker ('97) observed in the normal development of several species of Copepods, the presence of a special type of granules which collected at one end of the mitotic spindle during early cleavage division. The term "mitochondria" was first applied …

Bachelor of Divinity
It will be the object of the following treatise to present, in a brief way, some of the Scriptural evidence from the O.T., showing that the believers of the Old Covenant held fast to the hope or a resurrection as a cardinal article of their faith.
Preservation Of The Murals Of Kiva Iii, Kuaua Pueblo Ruins, Wesley Lloyd Bliss
Preservation Of The Murals Of Kiva Iii, Kuaua Pueblo Ruins, Wesley Lloyd Bliss
Anthropology ETDs
A workman uncovered a small fragment of painted adobe plaster in the course of the excavating of the Kuaua (Tiguex) pueblo ruins, on Tuesday, February 12, 1935. These ruins are located on the west bank of the Rio Grande, one and one-half miles northwest of Bernalillo, Sandoval County, New Mexico. Gordon Vivian, in charge of the excavations, told me of this find and the following day we started to uncover paintings on a wall of what turned out to be an underground kiva. Part of the north wall and about one-half of the west wall were excavated, paintings were found …
Biography Of Helena Modjeska, Rosemary Kleczka
Biography Of Helena Modjeska, Rosemary Kleczka
Bachelors’ Theses
The stage is majestic in its triumph and gruesome in its failure. Lives are often patterned for success. in ambitions, or disappointments in attempts behind i ts glowing footlights. The stage can be the path to fame and fortune; the stage can be the trek to obscurity and poverty. Those, who choose the stage for their life's work, come in contact with a force so changing, that those, who seem most certain of success, result in almost ignoble failures. On the other hand, the stage might carry an unknown, unassuming actor or actress to heights that neither had ever hoped …

The Preparation Of Calcium And Barium Gluconate, Ronald Anthony Plzak
The Preparation Of Calcium And Barium Gluconate, Ronald Anthony Plzak
Bachelors’ Theses
The privilege of working on this subject is one which the author has sincerely appreciated, as it has given him the opportunity of incorporating many of the more recent contributions along the line of oxidizing aldose sugars. In reviewing these contributions, he has abstained from conveying an impression of finality and has attempted to show the many possibilities which the free sugar acids offer for the future. The experience of the last few years has proved that even long-cherished conceptions and apparently well-established facts may at any time undergo drastic revision. For this reason, the author has referred directly to …
A Brief History Of Puppetry, Alyce Josephine Guinan
A Brief History Of Puppetry, Alyce Josephine Guinan
Bachelors’ Theses
Puppetry is extremely interesting, us a study as well as an art. It is the aim of this thesis to convey that interest to its readers. This history of puppetry is, of necessity, brief, but an attempt has been made to present a thorough study of the subject. It is divided into three parts or chapters, the first of which concerns the beginning of puppetry, and the ancestry of the little wooden actor. It is interesting to note, that puppetry is almost as old as civilization itself, and that its origin cannot be traced to any particular country, but rather, …

Characteristics Of A Desirable Geography Textbook, Gretta E. Murphy
Characteristics Of A Desirable Geography Textbook, Gretta E. Murphy
Bachelors’ Theses
This thesis is an attempt to set forth the desirable characteristics to be looked for in a geography textbook, means of judging such texts, together with a compilation of opinions of authorities in the field of geography along this particular line.
Many teachers are to a great extent dependent upon the text, because of insufficient preparation or Jack of proper equipment. In many cases the only available material (such as maps, pictures, diagrams, and statistical tables) which innumerable of our school children in the elementary grades ever come in close contact with, is that which is found in the school …
Objectives Of Primary Reading Instruction, Sara M. Maloney
Objectives Of Primary Reading Instruction, Sara M. Maloney
Bachelors’ Theses
There is general agreement due to many scientific studies of reading, and the broader relationship that reading has assumed recently among school subjects, that the aims of reading should be based upon the uses and values of reading in contemporary life. The National Committee on Reading has adopted three major objectives of reading.
The Nature And The Development Of Starch Grains In Seed Plants, Slyvester John Siudzinski Jr.
The Nature And The Development Of Starch Grains In Seed Plants, Slyvester John Siudzinski Jr.
Bachelors’ Theses
In spite of the importance of the starch grain from many points of view little work has been done on its nature and development. This fact is interesting since the nature and the development of the starch grain claimed a large share of the attention of the early workers. They observed and described the starch grains from the earliest days of the compound microscope. It was then observed that starch from the different plants showed in many cases marked differences with regard to size, shape and structural markings of the individual grains.
The Chinese In California 1850 To 1904, Mary Scott
The Chinese In California 1850 To 1904, Mary Scott
Bachelors’ Theses
When the Chinese first came to the United States is uncertain. There was no separate census of the Chinese up to 1850, due to their inconsiderable numbers. 1850 marks the great gold rush to California. The demand for labor in San Francisco was extreme due to the gold rush. servants and laborers left the city; there was domestic work to be done for which the Chinese coolies were suitable.
Color Reactions As An Aid To Seed Indentification, Carlton Leo Schmit
Color Reactions As An Aid To Seed Indentification, Carlton Leo Schmit
Bachelors’ Theses
Plants have long been classified according to their physical likenesses and structures. To sort plants according to such a basis, a botanist uses a key. In most cases, these keys are based on the flower or fruit of the plant. Sometimes there are disadvantages in using these structures, because usually they are only present for a short portion of the year. In a few cases, the seeds or fruits of plants have been used as a basis of classification as, for instance, in the Umbelliferae, Alismaceae, and Bidens.
Oses Maimonides On The Names And Attributes Of God, Helen Mary Shackton
Oses Maimonides On The Names And Attributes Of God, Helen Mary Shackton
Bachelors’ Theses
Somehow man has always been interested in things outside of himself, and indeed this is a good thing, for without such an interest man would perish. An interest in plants and foods makes man discover the need for them in his own body. But besides these merely bodily interests there are others, which are far more significant. One of these is man’s place in the universe.
The Origin And Spread Of The Liberal Republican Movement, Fredric Henry Seeger
The Origin And Spread Of The Liberal Republican Movement, Fredric Henry Seeger
Bachelors’ Theses
The Liberal Republican Movement is ordinarily described as having started, developed, and disappeared in 1872. However, contrary to this opinion, it really began in Missouri at a much earlier date, in fact, it can be traced back as far as the close of the Civil War. Then too, the movement is described as having ended with the failure of Mr. Greeley's candidacy for president, yet there are numerous accounts which show the influence of the Liberal Republicans as late as 1884.
The Weather Effect On The Characteristic Protein Values In Wheat, Mary Margaret Murphy
The Weather Effect On The Characteristic Protein Values In Wheat, Mary Margaret Murphy
Bachelors’ Theses
Scientific investigation has proved conclusively that the protein content of the wheat kernel is the most important factor in determining the quality of the flour obtained. A high protein wheat is used for flour for bread making, and a low protein wheat for pastry flours. The quality of the protein must be determined by baking experimental loaves.
The year 1934 was a year of drought. In all parts of the country the wheat crops were affected by the lack of rainfall; hence, the protein value of the wheat must necessarily have been affected in some manner. The United States Department …

A History Of The Catholic Press Of Milwaukee, Donald E. Lynch
A History Of The Catholic Press Of Milwaukee, Donald E. Lynch
Bachelors’ Theses
It is the purpose of this thesis to show the development of the Catholic press in Milwaukee and to attempt to determine to what degree it has fulfilled its obligation to the reader and to the Church.
In order to do this it has been necessary to show the methods and practices employed by the Catholic press in handling editorial problems. This I have done by quoting extensively from each of the English Catholic newspapers.
It has been discovered during the preparation of this thesis that there is no up to date history of the Catholic press. In the volume. …
The Advisability Of A Sales Tax In Wisconsin, Edward J. Kulig
The Advisability Of A Sales Tax In Wisconsin, Edward J. Kulig
Bachelors’ Theses
This dissertation is closely confined to an analysis of a sales tax in the United States and excludes a thorough consideration of the other forms of taxation. For this reason much that might seem to have a close relation to the material under consideration has been omitted. Data which have been incorporated into this thesis are the latest available at the time of writing. The European and Canadian sales taxes as applied in the respective foreign nations have not been drawn into comparison with our sales taxes, because, to do justice to such a comparison all phases, political, social, and …

The Character Of Tiberius Caesar, William Alexander Ketterer
The Character Of Tiberius Caesar, William Alexander Ketterer
Bachelors’ Theses
In the same year that Octavius and Anthony routed the forces of Brutus and Cassius at Phillipi, there was born to Tiberius Claudius Nero and Livia Augusta a son, called after his father Tiberius Nero, and more commonly known, by reason of his later ascendancy, as Tiberius Caesar or the Emperor Tiberius. He was raised and brought to manhood in the royal household, for Octavius Augustus, the emperor, had taken to wife the mother of Tiberius, though of that union there was no offspring.
The Circulatory System In The Extremities Of The Domestic Cat From A Gross Anatomical Standpoint, Harold Liebenstein
The Circulatory System In The Extremities Of The Domestic Cat From A Gross Anatomical Standpoint, Harold Liebenstein
Bachelors’ Theses
The mammalian circulatory system serves the prime purpose of furnishing the body with food to carry on its functions. The domestic cat is closely related anatomically and physiologically to the human being, which makes it an excellent animal for laboratory work or experimental purposes.
The Contribution Of The American University To The Theater, Marion Moskol
The Contribution Of The American University To The Theater, Marion Moskol
Bachelors’ Theses
The study of the contribution of the American University to the Theater is interesting in that only since 1911 have the American Universities awakened to the necessity of organizing dramatic activities. In the two and a half decades since then the colleges and universities have taken rapid strides in their building of little theaters. They have therefore become the experimental producing medium of actors, playwrights and scenic designers, who before this time "were dragged up amid the slums of Broadway.’’
