General Problems Of Choral Organization As Presented Through The Prairie View State College Chorus For 1937-38, Mamie Vivilora Reed

All Theses

This Thesis is an effort to present and discuss in succinct form the various problems of the Prairie View State College Chorus, attempting to present the material in such a way as to make it easily understood by the most casual reader and music lover.

All of the material, except that in absolute quote, is written in strictly individualistic and conversational style. This material presented is not the results of scientific research, but it has been presented as a result of my actual experience and participation in the Prairie View State College Chorus for four years (specifically this year).

The Northwestern Shoshone Indians is the tribe of Indians that inhabited the territory north of the Great Salt Lake comprising the northern part of Utah and the Southern part of Idaho. Their confines would take in Weber, Rich, Box Elder, Cache, and part of Morgan, counties in Utah; and Bear Lake, …

The Feeding Value Of Certain Duck Food Plants Of The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge As Determined By Chemical Analysis, Dale Clair Christensen

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The study of bird feeding problems has become a prominent factor in wild life management. This is true especially with respect to the evaluation of recently established migratory bird refuges. In 1929 the Federal Government assumed control of a large area of land located on the Bear River Bay of Great Salt Lake for the purpose of providing a sanctuary for water fowl. Dykes were built and the areas inside these dykes flooded with fresh water from Bear River. During subsequent years aquatic and marsh plants* developed abundantly and apparently have provided satisfactory feeding and nesting grounds for migratory birds. …

Past Trends Of Cooperative Marketing And Its Present Economic Status In Utah, Lamoine B. Christiansen

All Graduate Theses and Dissertations, Spring 1920 to Summer 2023

The agricultural interests of the United States and Utah have experienced some trying situations during the past quarter century. Periods of depression followed by periods of expansion and prosperity have resulted in a condition of instability and insecurity in agriculture.

The effect of alternate periods of prosperity and depression in agriculture becomes increasingly important as agriculture changes from self-sufficing to commercialized types of business enterprises. Many of the difficulties inherent in the present complex social and capital structure were of minor significances in the early types of agricultural activities.

Changing conditions in agriculture and in social institutions in general have …

A Proposed Plan Of Guidance For Dayton High School, Dayton, Texas, John Armour Board May 1938

A Proposed Plan Of Guidance For Dayton High School, Dayton, Texas, John Armour Board

All Theses

Our elementary and Secondary School system as a whole may be conceived as an institution established and maintained largely for guidance purposes. Entry into a vocation presupposes a definite choice and a decision based on the previous sampling. At present, the social and economic problems are so complex that few parents are competent enough to give needed advice to their boys and girls. Obviously, the best insurance that can be provided against blundering on the part of the individual preparing to take up his burden of work is wise counsel and guidance during the formative period of his life. The …

A Study Of Labor Conditions Among Negro Longshoremen In Houston, Texas, Elois Olivia Tatum

All Theses

The study of the Negro Longshoreman in Houston is both a pioneer as well as a provocative study. It attempts to describe his conditions, educational background, wages, hours and job situations. Little has teen done, obviously, in portraying the role of organized Negroes in general and practically no research has been carried out regarding Negro longshoremen in Houston. A Suggested Method Of Teaching Democracy In The High School, Willie Gerald Seay May 1938

A Suggested Method Of Teaching Democracy In The High School, Willie Gerald Seay

All Theses

Some claim that the method of teaching democracy in the high school is a problem. It is the duty, however of high school teachers to provide a student organization which will give every student a chance to express himself constructively, but an organization surely built which at every opportunity will utilize its own power to settle its own difficulties.

It is impossible and impracticable to include in the high school program a comprehensive study in each of the social sciences. And yet, it is unjust to the pupil that his knowledge of social facts and especially democracy should be limited. …

In modern population theory there are three important aspects that should be distinguished, namely: the demographic phase, the bio-social phase and the socio-economic phase.

Juvenile Courts And The Delinquent Adolescents, Ella Leona Lee May 1938

Juvenile Courts And The Delinquent Adolescents, Ella Leona Lee

All Theses

The American juvenile court is a subject on which many books might be written from different points of view and approached. It is a response to the modern spirit of social justice, and is perhaps the first legal tribunal where law and science, especially the science of medicine and those sciences which deal with human behavior such as biology, sociology and psychology, work side by side. It recognizes the fact that the law unaided is incompentent to decide what is adequate treatment of delinquency and crime.

It undertakes to define and readjust social situations without the sentiment of prejudice. Its …

The Life And Teachings Of John The Baptist, Reinhold Mueller

Bachelor of Divinity

Thus it is the office of John• which we honor. The office of John was first of all to make the world humble, to call people to repentance and make them confess their sins, that is, to preach the Law. Secondly he was to preach forgiveness of sins and salvation, the sweet Gospel with all it’s comfort. Therefore he who reads Walther's "Gesets und Evangelium" may do well to study the teachings of John at the same time, and he will find it an excellent collateral reading tor his study. Of course we know that there are extremes on both …

St Paul's Use Of The Word Πνευμα, Paul Meyer
