Historical And Liberal Elements In Mariano Azuela, William D. Reyburn Jan 1948

Historical And Liberal Elements In Mariano Azuela, William D. Reyburn

Spanish and Portuguese ETDs

An unprejudiced study of the history of Mexico normally leads to a liberal position with regard to the peoples and problems of that country. Mariano Azuela, often called the Novelist of the Mexican Revolution, is unquestionably one of his country's greatest liberal minds. The liberal position which stems from conviction and experience is not to be confused with the philosophy and theories of political liberalism.

A Survey Of Forest Taxation In The United States, Cyrus L. Fairless Jan 1948

A Survey Of Forest Taxation In The United States, Cyrus L. Fairless

Economics ETDs

Forests occupy a well known and vital part of our national economy. Few people will dispute the fact that the proper care and maintenance of our forests is necessary to meet the increasing demands of the country for more lumber, lumber by-products, grazing land, soil protection, flood control, and recreational facilities. Furthermore, forests serve as a huge national reservoir for the nation's supply of rainfall, a factor that can hardly be underestimated, especially in the Rocky Mountain area. It is therefore easy to conclude that one of our major problems is to prevent the widespread deforestation of the United States …

Child Labor In Kansas, William H. Cape Jan 1948

Child Labor In Kansas, William H. Cape

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

The problem of child labor in Kansas is being recognized more and more by the people and by the legislature . Child labor has never assumed formidable proportions in this state, however young people need protection regardless of the number employed. This particular age group has never been a great employment problem, perhaps the principal reason being t hat Kansas is primarily an agricultural state . The possibilities that t he stat e will become an industrial and manufacturing 'stat e are excellent and such a change would, no doubt, bring an increase in the number of children employed unless …

In terms of the verb theme Tewa verbs may be divided into several categories which have been illustrated with examples in Chapter V.

Standardization Of No-Passing Zone Pavement Markings, Glen Nickolas Hackmann

Professional Degree Theses

"This thesis is a comprehensive treatment of present methods practiced by the various Highway Departments in the United States. It presents in particular current methods used by the State Highway Departments and the Public Roads Administration in marking no-passing zones throughout the country. For a long time it has seemed to the author that such a study was needed by both students and highway engineers. Road-design information of great value has developed over the years and often has been published but never assembled in a single orderly presentation stripped of excessive overlapping"--Preface, page ii.

The United Church Of Christ In Japan: An Analysis Of The Background Of And Trends Toward Unity In Religion And State Resulting In The Creation Of The United Protestant Church In Japan, Earl Van Best

Graduate Thesis Collection

This thesis is a limited expression of many years of interest in and love for the Kingdom of God in Japan. It is offered as a lay critique of the bases from which have developed trends toward unity in state and religion. It has been difficult not to descend to the level of a biased judge on the one hand or to scale the heights of the prophet on the other-, what with the alarming amount of misinformation available suggestive of the possibility of dramatic pronouncements based on half-truths. The Clan System, Shrine worship, war records, and the supposed reasons …

Geographic Interpretation Of Land Use In Lorain County, Ohio, George M. Howe

Honors Papers

Geographic study aims at systematic description and interpretation of the interrelationship of organic and inorganic things on the face of the earth. The geographer analyzes land use patterns in the attempt to understand the intimate relationship existing between man and the geographic environment. The number of people that a given amount of land will support, and hence the manner in which this population uses that land, is a function of the resources of the area and the culture of the men making up the population. Basically, resources of the land are its geographic elements of soil, climate, physiography, and vegetation; …

An Investigation Into The Histories Of Theories And Treatment Of Vocal Registers In Training The Singing And Speaking Voice In Relation To The Recently Published Theories Of Douglas Stanley, Edward Burger Lyon

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

The question, then, is not. "Should such a study impose limits upon itself?" Rather it is "How shall the boundaries be set?" On the part of the investigator, two considerations might well influence his choice of a specific area in the field of vocal research: (1) Is there a point upon which there exist confusion or, at least doubt, in the mind of the investigator? (2) Is the clearing up of this point of doubt or confusion sufficiently important to the investigator to justify his spending a year trying to solve the problem? In this case the writer has somewhat …

A hospital survey done by the Kentucky State Board of Health in 1945-46 classified the Home as a "custodial-type institution", and did not include it in the survey, as it was not considered a hospital. Surveys on phases of the work of the institution were done in 1914 (Haven Emerson Survey) and in 1940 (Health and Welfare Council Survey) for administrative purposes. This year the work of the Home has provided the material for three theses …
