A Histological Study Of The Malpighian Tubules Of Gryllus Domesticus, William Mack Madison Aug 1948

A Histological Study Of The Malpighian Tubules Of Gryllus Domesticus, William Mack Madison

All Theses

Several investigators have made reports upon the structure of the excretory system of the Gryllus domesticus. Bordas, 1899, presented work on the Gryllus domesticus, while Stuart (7), presented work on the Melanoplus differentialis. The present work is based primarily on the work of the two above named workers. There are no discrepancies to be reported here on any previous works, but rather, this investigation tends to prove that the structure found in the malpighian tubules of the Melanoplus differentialis is similar to those found in the Gryllus domesticus.

Many of the methods in microscopical techniques have been handed down tradition-wise …

A Follow-Up Study Of Students Who Have Left Phyllis Wheatley High School, San Antonio, Texas, Since 1942, Doris Rayford Scott

All Theses

Vocational guidance does not end, as many are wont to believe, with the placement of an individual in a vocation, no matter how carefully and wisely selected. The follow-up program is indeed vital but often neglected, and it is the responsibility of the individual or individuals who have spent limitless time and effort in carrying through the preceding steps of the guidance program to see to it that the individual, student, or drop-out, functions successfully in his chosen vocation.

Arthur Jones rates the follow-up step in this manner: MThe follow-up program of guidance is as important as the other steps …

A Study Of Attendance At Four Corners School In Sugarland, Texas 1946-47, Eva Jane Mccullough-Barlow

All Theses

Over a period of five years the average enrollment at Four Corners School, Sugar Land, Texas, has been 85, but the average graduating class has been two and a larger number of children has had irregular attendance than the number that has attended regularly. At the 1940 session of the Texas State Teachers Association, State Superintendent of Education, L. A. Woods pointed out that the small number of Negro high school graduates was due to the low percentage of attendance in both the elementary and secondary schools. In the light of these considerations, the writer is faced with the question: …

How much pupils learn, whether they measure up to other pupils and in what fields of knowledge they excel have been questions to which the answers were always interesting. Therefore, when it became a possibility to use results of a state-wide testing program as thesis material it was at once accepted. The work has been interesting and the findings justify the labor involved, in the opinion of the writer.

The Relationship Of Reading And Spelling Ability At Various School Levels, Robert C. Richards

Master's Theses or Doctor of Nursing Practice

Current emphasis in spelling and reading appears to be on the unitary nature of the child's development especially in relation to the language arts. While the writer is interested in the analysis of reading abilities and spelling ability in order to determine the fundamental language abilities common to both skills, the specific problem of this investigation is to, "discover the consistency of the relationship of spelling and reading abilities of pupils from the fifth grade through the ninth grade inclusive". This relationship refers to the linear correlation relationship derived from the use of standardized tests. The particular phases of the …

A Survey Of Labor Legislation, Melvin Walde Burnett Jul 1948

A Survey Of Labor Legislation, Melvin Walde Burnett

Master's Theses

During the last fifty years, labor legislation and public opinion have fluctuated widely. People showed little interest in the unions and their fight for free collective bargaining, until the thirties when the New Deal ushered in a new era. President Roosevelt and the federal government, supported by public opinion, undortook to aid substantially the unions in their organizational and collective bargaining activities. By this time the people believed that one way to help recovery was to give every aid to unions, who in turn would fight for higher wages.
