County Government In Colonial Louisa County, Virginia, Rudolph Stone Rangel Aug 1962

County Government In Colonial Louisa County, Virginia, Rudolph Stone Rangel

Master's Theses

Over one hundred years ago Joseph Martin, describing Louisa County, wrote, "This county has been the scene of no important historical incident." This may well be true. Incidents, however, are not the only factors to be taken into consideration in determining the relative historical importance of a people or locality. A historical incident is usually the culminative crisis of a series of formative experience in the lives of the members of a community. "Important historical incidents" may come to a climax at a given time and place, as in a military or parliamentary conflict, but their roots are to be …

At the age of eight, Orwell received a scholarship to study at a preparatory school, St. Cyprian's, on the south coast of …

Dissertation In Organic Chemistry. Part I, The Fate Of The Anilino Moiety In The Rearrangement Of Α-Anilonoketones. Part Ii, Partial Rate Factors For Sulfonation Of Bromebenzene With Sulfur Trioxide. Part Iii., Preliminary Survey On The Effect Of High Pressure On Ferrocene And Cycloöctatetraene, Jerold Carter Robertson

Theses and Dissertations

Part I. The rearrangement of α-anilinoketones was studied in an effort to determine the mode of movement of the nitrogen moiety. A crossover experiment was carried out with an equimolar mixture of 2-(4- bromoanilino)-1-(4-bromophenyl)-2-(4-methoxyphenyl) ethanone and 2-(4-chloroanilino)-1-(4-chlorophenyl) -2-(4-methoxyphenyl)ethanone with γ- picoline hydrobromide as the catalyst. The reaction product was analysed by means of a mass spectrograph. The results of the analysis indicate a crossover of the nitrogen moiety during rearrangement. This indicates that the nitrogen moiety moves in an intermolecular manner during the rearrangement. Part II. The isomer distribution from the sulfonation of bromobenzene with sulfur trioxide was determined by …

Furthermore, these devices can be used as a criterion in developing a classification system for the chorale preludes, which logically divide into six groups or types.

The first type includes the chorale preludes in which the composition begins immediately with the first phrase of the chorale melody and continues without interruption …
